Student Spotlight

Emma Haberman is a junior at NDSU studying Business Psychology. She is from Bottineau, ND. Here's what Emma wanted to share with you:

"Being involved in bisonCatholic has changed my life more than I can explain. The Newman Center is such a great place to meet new people and walk with others to Christ. I feel so very blessed to have met some of my best friends through different events offered here. My favorite thing about the Newman Center is that it provides a beautiful place to get to know the Lord and truly feel His presence. Everyone here is so kind and genuinely wants to get to know your heart. Having such an amazing community can completely change your life."

Eucharistic Procession and Spring Camp Out at Itasca State Park

A group of students from the Newman Center spent time together camping at Itasca State Park and attended the Pentecost Mass with Bishop Andrew Cozzens near the headwaters of the Mississippi River. A Eucharistic Procession began following Mass where the 3,000 pilgrims present processed one mile with the Blessed Sacrament to the headwaters, where Benediction took place. The Mass and Procession was one of four locations across the United States that initiated a four part Eucharistic Procession which will all meet later this summer in Indianapolis, IN for the National Eucharistic Congress. It was a great privilege to witness and take part in the beginning this historic event in the life of the Church!

More information and progress of the four Eucharistic Procession routes can be found with the link below.

Welcome to the Team, New Staff Updates

Please welcome Terezia Bolibruch, who will be our first Events Coordinator at the Newman Center! She will be coordinating events specifically held at the Newman Center by students, alumni, and friends. Please reach out to Terezia if you would

like to host an event at the Newman Center.

Please meet our new Director of Development, Joe Hendrickx. Joe has been working at the Newman Center since 2018 as a Development Officer and was promoted to the Director of Development this May. He and his wife Jolene live in Fargo with their children and just welcomed their sixth child in May. Joe is also a 2014 graduate of NDSU and has been working in ministry for the past 10 years.

We also wish to extend our gratitude to Bryan Wilburn, our previous Director of Development. Bryan served the Newman Center for 9 years, with 5 of those years serving as the Director of Development. Bryan was able to help lead the completion of our capital campaign and build our sustained giving program to fund our day-to-day ministry. We are very grateful for his dedication to the ministry and work at the Newman Center.

We are excited to welcome Alfred Schwalbe who will be joining our staff this July! Al will be a Development Officer reaching out to our friends and alumni in support of the ministry. Al graduated from NDSU in 2020 and was a peer minister during his time at NDSU. He and his wife, Nicollette, are both NDSU alumni and have 2 girls.
