I-69 Ohio River Crossing Update

On September 8, the Evansville Region welcomed U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, Governor Mike Braun, Senator Todd Young, Rep. Jamie Comer, and state and local leaders for an important update on the I-69 Ohio River Crossing (ORX).

More than just a bridge, the ORX is a vital connector for commerce, jobs, and economic growth across Indiana and Kentucky. The bipartisan collaboration showcased the power of partnership in building a stronger future.

Free Cowork Friday

To celebrate its 7th anniversary, Cowork Evansville will host a Free Cowork Friday open house at its downtown location at 318 Main St., Evansville, IN, on Friday, September 26, from 8 AM – 4 PM,

The event is open to the public, welcoming both members and non-members to experience the coworking space, tour amenities, and connect with a vibrant community of entrepreneurs and professionals.

As part of the celebration, attendees will have the chance to win a free one-month membership to Cowork Evansville.

New Housing Development Planned for Posey County

Hometown Ventures Group (HVG) is developing Farmington Ridge, a 32.75-acre neighborhood that will bring up to 90 affordable homes to the region. Backed by a $945,000 READI award, the project represents a $30–35M investment in Posey County.

With a $4.7M infrastructure investment and a total project value of $30–35M, the community will feature: 1,400–1,800 sq. ft. homes priced at $275K–$350K, an average of 10 homes built per year, and opportunities for buyers to purchase lots and build custom homes within flexible plans.

TSMA Lean Peer Group

The TSMA Lean Peer Group recently held a hands-on site visit at Indiana Furniture, where participants observed the banding machine process, identified waste, and shared ideas to improve efficiency. Thank you to Indiana Furniture for hosting such a valuable learning experience!

Funding Opportunities

Governor Mike Braun just launched Power Up Indiana, a new initiative that helps employers strengthen their existing workforce through upskilling and training.

Employers can receive up to $5,000 per employee for programs such as leadership development, apprenticeships, and industry credentials, resulting in at least a 25% wage increase for participating employees. Open to businesses of all sizes, this program rewards companies that build from within.

The United States Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for the Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grant Program (FY 2026). Grants ranging from $100,000–$500,000 are available to support schools, agencies, agriculture producers, and nonprofits in building farm-to-school programs.

Funds can be used for a wide range of activities, from developing new partnerships and supply chains to creating new menu items, planting school gardens, and organizing field trips. The grant application deadline is December 5, 2025. For more info, visit fns.usda.gov/f2s/grant.
