Greetings!
Catholic Schools Week is a great opportunity for each of us to reflect on our call to the ministry of administration in our Catholic Schools. The words from Sunday’s first reading from the prophet Jeramiah, “…I knew you before you were born…” Before birth, God’s plan included you and me. No one in the world is like you. No one in the world who can do what you do, the way that you do it. Without your skills and talents given to you for the glory of God, it just doesn’t happen in the same way. The second reading we normally hear at weddings about love, “…without love, we are a noisy gong…” Informed by our faith, love is at the very heart of our work in Catholic schools. The Gospel puts the strongest emphasis on the message – that we are called to be prophets, who, like Jesus, are often misunderstood and criticized. We are called to be prophets who often challenge and at the same time model love for all. Jesus calls us to stand firm in the knowledge of that courageous and yet tender embrace of our communities. We challenge all – students, parents and teachers - to remain focused on Christ at the center of our schools and parishes.
This week, we begin our sessions with our Archbishop, Pastors and School Leadership. We hope these meetings, while virtual, allow us time to be together and encouraged in our ministries. I thank you in advance for taking the time to attend.
It is said that the verse, “Be not afraid…” appears in scripture 365 times. May we continue to Reach Higher! Without fear, knowing that our work is holy work. I am so grateful for your ministries in our Catholic schools.
We, in the OCS, continue to keep you and your communities in our prayers.
