EXECUTIVE COUNCIL REPORT

Message to all the Members

Happy New Year! May your year be filled with health and happiness and we hope that you enjoyed the holiday season and celebrated in your chosen way.

This year has many exciting opportunities for the members of the Belleville Art Association! Our Annual General Meeting will be held at the end of this month and we are adding new General meetings this year to allow members to gather and share information. There will be member orientations, workshops and plein airs, Open Houses and Art Walks, along with our monthly rotation of Gallery shows and our Annual Juried Show in October.

Sandra Kidd will be stepping down from her role as Programming Co-Chair. She has long served the BAA by arranging exciting workshops and member meetings, and is ready for a well-deserved break. Thank you, Sandra, for all you have contributed to the success of this association.

As you are aware, we are an association entirely run by volunteers. There are always opportunities to become involved and contribute to our success. You never are alone and always have support. If you wish to know more, please let one of the Executives know. And, see the immediate needs just below! What better time to begin than at the start of the new year!

May we all enjoy an artful, inspired 2025!

Julie Lower on behalf of the BAA Executive Council

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

In 2024 we were able to create a marketing system through the use of technology that has allowed us to document marketing strategies and content that can be used moving into 2025 and beyond with the purpose of supporting BAA committees and artists in their mandate to create, educate and exhibit.

In 2025 we will be working on allowing artists access to their own website pages, scheduling and automating advertising content, building online forms to simplify time intensive labeling processes and creating signage to enhance the Gallery presence. We would like to encourage everyone who uses social media to continue sharing online content, as it helps tremendously.

We’re looking forward to an exciting and successful year for our art community and its many talented artists. If you have any suggestions or comments for our committee we’d love to hear from you.

PROGRAMMING

Workshops

We are excited to offer new and interesting workshops for our members in 2025. The schedule has been set and we will continue with our monthly sessions. We also plan on incorporating some “plein airs” for our members in the summer months. If there is a particular topic that you would enjoy exploring or if you would love to share a skill with fellow members, please let us know. We always welcome new ideas.

Our February workshop is now open for registration. Come and explore the history and techniques of Impressionist and Fauvist Masters to inspire bold color and expressive brushwork in your art with Sharlena Wood. We are anticipating a strong demand, so do not delay if you are interested.  Information is on the website with a link to sign up.

Details on our March workshop, Image Transfer with Theresa Morin and our April workshop, Discovering Soft Pastels with Lorraine Mackie will be available in the near future. And stay tuned for information on our upcoming ones!

As our workshops are very popular and usually have waiting lists, we are now asking for payment at the time of registration, to confirm your participation.

STUDIO

We painted the Gallery! Special thanks to all members who helped with all the tasks preparing for the painting and reassembling the gallery!!!! It was an example of BAA teamwork at its best!

Now we are ready for a fresh start in 2025. Be sure to sign up to sit in the gallery if you are able. We find it very helpful if members sign up a month in advance so that we are prepared ahead of time. This helps us to avoid the last minute rush.

 Thank you.
