MRFF AND ITS USMMA CLIENTS DISGUSTED

AS DOT SEC’Y SEAN DUFFY CONTINUES HIS

VINDICTIVE CRUSADE TO MAKE GIGANTIC

JESUS PAINTING UNCONSTITUTIONAL AGAIN

In 2023, MRFF, acting on a complaint from a group of

17 alumni, midshipmen, faculty, and staff at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, succeeded in getting an enormous painting of Jesus moved from the Elliot M. See conference room in the Academy’s administrative building to the chapel.

But now, as we’ve been reporting for several months, former reality TV star and Christian supremacist transportation secretary Sean Duffy is on a crusade not only to move the painting back to its completely unconstitutional former location, but to install a

plaque for it that ends with this preposterous sentence:

“This painting has taken on historical significance and become a part of the Academy’s community, imparting varying meanings for different members of the Academy’s community.”

We're still waiting for Duffy to enlighten us as to what “varying meanings” a gigantic painting of Jesus could possibly have.

Last week, the mammoth messiah was removed from the chapel in preparation for its becoming a divisive display of Christian supremacy and unfettered unconstitutionality once again.

Mikey Weinstein tells The Christian Post that moving the

painting back to the Academy’s administrative building would be:

“... as repugnant to our U.S. Constitution’s separation of church and state as it would be for an ice cream aficionado if an ice cream shop offered a dog feces flavor to the public.”

Sean Duffy celebrates as USMMA Jesus painting brought up from basement: ‘All glory to God!’

In its usual biased fashion, The Christian Post once again omits that MRFF was acting on behalf of a group of 17 USMMA alumni, midshipmen, faculty, and staff — a number that quickly more than doubled once others found out about the complaint — deceptively saying only:

“The painting had hung in the USMMA's Wiley Hall for 76 years until a 2023 letter from Military Religious Freedom Foundation founder Mikey Weinstein demanded its removal, claiming a violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”

The article contains no “varying meanings” for giant Jesus, quoting only one midshipman — a budding Christian nationalist who used to pray under the painting and wants it put back where it can shove Christianity down everyone else’s throats.

The Christian Post did ask Mikey Weinstein for a comment, which is included in the article:

“The only type of disingenuous religious expression this MAGA sycophantic servile Secretary Duffy celebrates here is extremist, Christian nationalism, make no doubt about it.

“If it goes back to the same mandatory conference room MRFF fought to have it taken down from, the unconstitutional restoration

of this blatantly sectarian expression of wretched, fundamentalist Christian supremacy and triumphalism is as repugnant to our

U.S. Constitution's separation of church and state as it would be

for an ice cream aficionado if an ice cream shop offered a dog feces flavor to the public.”
