Help Shape St. Martin’s Next 75 Years

As we prepare to celebrate our 75th anniversary in 2027, the 2026 Parish Survey invites every parishioner to reflect, listen, and help discern God’s call for our future.

Beloved in Christ,

In 2027, we will mark an auspicious milestone in the life of St. Martin’s Church: the 75th anniversary of our founding! This important birthday for our beloved Parish presents us with a unique opportunity to give thanks for our past, to celebrate our present and to discern how God is calling us to serve Him and His Kingdom in the next 75 years — and beyond!

So that we may enter fully into this exciting season of discernment and celebration, I want to invite every member of our Parish — and I mean every member, whether lifelong or recently joined, young or … crowned with wisdom — to reflect on the ways that the Lord has blessed you through St. Martin’s and to discern how He is calling you into deep, life-changing engagement with the ministries of our Parish.

Beginning on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 8 a.m. to Sunday, Nov. 1 — All Saints’ Day — to 9 p.m., you are invited to participate in our 2026 Parish Survey.

This survey has been developed internally by Moira Davis, past President of our Altar Guild, working closely with Susan McConn, our Senior Warden, and the Rev. Dr. Andrew Grosso, our new Vice Rector. These questions reflect our Vestry and Staff's desire to hear from you, our people, about the cherished blessings and engaging opportunities you see opening for our Parish.

This is not a customer satisfaction survey. Instead, this survey is intended to lay the groundwork for meaningful listening within our community, allowing each of our members to rejoice in all that St. Martin’s is now and to look with hope to the days ahead. The information gained through the survey and subsequent conversations will be invaluable as the Vestry and I articulate our long-range plans and strategic goals.

As a community, we know who we are: the largest Parish of the Episcopal Church, theologically orthodox and founded on God’s Word, proclaiming the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ in and through the riches of our Anglican tradition, our joyful fellowship, our life-changing teaching and our world-changing outreach. We also know that these last several years of transition have opened new opportunities for us to pursue our mission and ministries strategically and intentionally.

I eagerly expect that this process of listening within our community will empower us to continue living into the fullness of our identity and mission as we follow our Lord’s call into St. Martin’s bright future.

I hope that you will accept my invitation to participate in this important survey. Should you have any questions, please contact the Vice Rector’s Office at lgallien@smec.org.

And please join me as we pray for our St. Martin’s Parish Family in this glorious season ahead!

Faithfully,

The Rev. Dane E. Boston

Rector, St. Martin's Episcopal Church
