We will keep students on campus until the end of the regular day for safety reasons. Parents as on any other day may decide to pick up their student early.
How is the FALA Community notified about a snow/delay day?
FUSD will make the call by 5:15am the morning of the snow/delay day. FALA will post this info right after this info is released on:
- FALA Website at the top of the Home page,
- FALA Facebook and Instagram accounts,

1. Diplomas
- Dean Crawley has most of the senior's legal names. She will be sending individual reminders to those whose names she still needs for diplomas.
2. Students need to check with their Academic Coach to see if there are any final requirements that are needed for graduation.
Academic Coaches have met with seniors and sent reminders to students about service hour completion and other graduation requirement.
3. If Seniors have not done so already they need to send their yearbook Senior Portrait and Quote to Mr. Borham.
4. Senior Projects:
Please send you project outlines to Dean Crawley.
5. Senior Ditch Day is not a FALA excused absence.
Seniors who participate in Senior Ditch Day need to be in good standing with attendance and in their classes in order to participate. This day cannot conflict with performances or finals.
6. Graduation Letter
- Each Senior will have a letter read and five pictures displayed while a special letter is read about the Senior during the ceremony. This is a lovely FALA tradition that makes our graduation ceremony unique and touching. Seniors have been given a copy of this letter.
7. Graduation Photos -
Start culling your photos for your senior. FALA will be requesting five high quality resolution photos for the ceremony to be displayed while their letter is read and just before they receive their FALA High School Diploma.
8. The Graduation Ceremony will be on May 31st.
Seniors have selected to start the FALA Graduation Ceremony at 4:00pm, May 31st. The Ceremony will be held at the Coconino Community College (CCC) Lonetree Campus. Seniors need to be at CCC no later than 3:15 for Graduation Rehearsal.

It's time again to kick off our search for volunteers at the 2019 Blues and Brews Festival which FALA is once again their charity to benefit from a portion of the proceeds. We are so grateful for this partnership and how much it does for our school. And this year it's TWO days. That means more for us to benefit from. So here it goes . . . we need your help to put our best foot forward at the event and need volunteers.
Click on the link below to sign up
. We appreciate your contributions to the success of this event. And you get to enjoy the rest of the day before/after your shift. It's an incredibly fun festival!
Any questions, contact Heather Pierce.

Environmental Day at the Capitol
|
On Wednesday, nine FALA students (Iris Dixon, Ben Heirigs, Dmitri Rudakewich, Tia Stephens, Gabby Neilson, Ruby Heinonen, Juniper Holland, Clarice Linskey, and Everett England) from FALA's Environmental Coalition (FEC) and teacher, Dustin Kuluris, traveled to Phoenix for Environmental Day at the Capitol.
Representatives from from the coalition lobbied for environmental legislation, and three of FEC's members (Juniper Holland, Gabby Neilson, and Tia Stephens) spoke at a press conference. Additionally, the students listened to many Arizona State legislators speak about environmental policy and progress. They also ran into Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans and other Flagstaff City Council members. Overall, the students had an amazing day at the Capitol, and they were inspired by the work that they did and the people they met.

Dual Enrollment (DE) Update
|
Good news! FALA's Executive Director, Dean of Academy, and DE Coordinator recently met with Coconino Community College (CCC) to discuss FALA's DE Program. This notification is to share updates with you!
If you haven't heard yet,
DE is an opportunity for students to earn college credits at a significantly reduced cost while they are in high school.
CCC has partnered with FALA to provide this extraordinary opportunity to our students for the first time at FALA this school year.
Currently DE courses offered at FALA include English 101, Spanish 101, and Art 120 (ceramics). Fifty-three students are enrolled in DE courses at FALA this year. Next year FALA is looking at adding additional DE courses in French, Math, Social Studies, and Science.
For Math and English DE Courses, students are required to pass a placement test. Last year, CCC shared they were thoroughly impressed with FALA's scores, and have never seen top scores on the placement test before; 60% of our students who took a placement test got a perfect score on the writing section for English. FALA is a college preparatory school, and now students can earn college credit before graduating from FALA. FALA is so proud of not only the students' who placed so well in the placement test, but also proud of those who are earning college credits now and in the future!
If your student is interested in FALA's DE Program, contact FALA's DE Coordinator, Janine Birchard
, at
jbirchard@flagarts.com
or 779-7223. More information will be provided to students in March.
