Calendar Updates

Please note, there were some updates to the school calendar originally published in January 2024. Please click here for the updated one-page calendar.


School Day Hours

  • On regular dismissal days, the instructional day will be 7:55AM-3:25PM.
  • On early dismissal days, the instructional day will be 7:55AM-12:00PM.


Google Calendar

The school's Google calendar has been updated with many events and information for the school year. Additional updates will continue through the next few weeks. The Google Calendar can be found here and the Google Calendar app can be downloaded to your mobile devices (highly recommended). More information on our various calendar resources can be found here.

Cafeteria


Please review the 2024-2025 ECI letter to parents here. You can find information about the St. Cecilia Catholic School cafeteria program and setup/ manage your child’s Dining Pay account on ECI’s Dining Pay system.


Dining Pay registration will be open beginning Monday, August 12th. If you need to setup a new Dining Pay account, you will need your child’s Student ID. To access the list of student ID’s please login to FACTS. Under “School” select “Resource Documents”. Click the document named, 2024-2025 Student IDs. All students are listed in alphabetical order by last name.

School Supplies - Extra Items Reminder

The school supply packs for all students were delivered to the school and distributed to the classrooms on August 2nd. As a reminder, there are extra items for each grade that need to be purchased - click here for the list.

Student Safety Drills


Please note the following student safety drills will be conducted on the following dates. More information about these events will be communicated closer to the date.

Java With Jeff Sessions


The annual beginning of the school year “Java With Jeff” sessions will be held on the dates below for the grades listed. All parents are invited to attend.


  • Tuesday, August 20th: PK3-Kindergarten
  • Wednesday, August 21st: 8th Grade**
  • Thursday, August 22nd: 1st-4th Grades
  • Tuesday, August 27th: 5th-7th Grades


**It is required that at least one 8th grade parent attend the 8th grade Java with Jeff on Wednesday, August 21st at 9:15AM.

5th-8th Grade PE Uniform Store is Now Open

Our PE uniform store has reopened through August 15thPlease make sure to order now as it will not open again until October 7th. For your convenience, the uniform(s) will be mailed directly to your home. Please note, that the orders will not be filled until the ordering window is closed. Uniforms will not be marked off until after Labor Day. If you do not have a uniform when PE begins, we ask that you wear navy blue shorts and a school spirit shirt.

Monday, August 12th

Used Uniform Drop Off - 8:00AM to 10:00AM

If you have items to drop off for the Used Uniform Sale (happening on Tuesday, August 13th), they need to be dropped off the day before. Items will no longer be accepted on the day of or during the sale on August 13th. Item drop off will occur on Monday, August 12th from 8:00AM to 10:00AM in the school auditorium.

Tuesday, August 13th

New Family Welcome- 8:30AM to 9:00AM

All new students and new families joining St. Cecilia Catholic School this year are invited to the school cafeteria for a brief welcome reception. Following the welcome reception, new students and families will be taken to their students’ classrooms for the “Sneak-A-Peek” to view their classrooms and meet their teachers.

*All NEW students coming at 8:30AM should enter the field gates and go to the cafeteria.

*All RETURNING students in grades PK3-2nd grade can visit their classrooms beginning at 9:00AM.


Sneak-A-Peek - 9:00AM to 12:00PM

Students entering grades PK3 through 2nd and their families are invited to come to school and “Sneak-A-Peek” anytime between 9:00AM and 12:00PM. Your teacher will be eager to see and welcome you to the new school year. Upon visiting the classroom, you will drop off any materials or supplies you have purchased for the new school year and pick up anything your teacher would like you to take home before the first day of school. This is intended to be a short visit and parents are expected to stay with their children during the visit. Students are not expected to wear their school uniform to Sneak-A-Peek.


Used Uniform Sale- 9:00AM to 1:00PM

Following the New Family Welcome and Sneak-A-Peek, all families are invited to the auditorium for the used uniform sale.

Wednesday, August 14th - First Day of School

(Early Dismissal & Regular Uniform Day)

Please note the school year starts on a Wednesday, and Wednesdays will be our weekly Mass days throughout the year. Since this is the first day of school, we will not have all school Mass. We will begin having our weekly Masses the following Wednesday, August 21st. So, for this first day of school, students wear their normal school uniform to school.


7:40AM - 7:55AM- First Day of School Begins (No Carpool - Classroom Drop Off)

There is no morning carpool on the first day of school. We will have classroom drop off for all students. Parents walk their children to their homerooms.


8:00AM- HSA Welcome Back To School Coffee - Auditorium

After classroom drop off, all parents are invited to the HSA Welcome Back to School Coffee in the school auditorium. Parents will have a chance to sign up to volunteer for various school and parish committees and mingle with other school parents.


12:00PM- Early Dismissal (No Carpool - Classroom Pick-Up & No Bridges)

The first day of school is an early dismissal day. There will not be carpool, pick-up will be in your child(ren)'s homeroom classroom. Please note there is no after-school Bridges program until Monday, August 19th.


1:00PM - 4:00PM Hopes and Fears Conferences (Day 1)

Our first parent-teacher conferences of the year are the Hopes & Fears Conferences. Parents are given the opportunity to sign up for a 10-15 minute time slot to meet with their child(ren)'s homeroom teacher. All parents are expected to have a Hopes and Fears Conference with each of their child(ren)’s homeroom teacher(s). Students do not need to be in the Hopes and Fears Conference but are always welcome.

The purpose of the Hopes & Fears Conference is for the parent(s) to share their hopes and their fears for their child specific to the upcoming school year. The teacher’s responsibility during these meetings is to listen, take notes, and learn as much as possible about each student. The homeroom teachers will be sending an email to parents with a sign up genius to schedule your Hopes & Fears conference after the homeroom lists are available in FACTS.

Thursday, August 15th - Second Day of School

(Early Dismissal, Mass Uniform Day, and 1st Day of Carpool)


*August 15th is a Holy Day of Obligation. Please make sure your child(ren) wear dress uniform.

7:55AM- Second Day of School Begins (1st Day of Morning Carpool)

Regular morning carpool begins.


8:15AM- All School Mass

Students in grades K-8th will attend Mass.


11:30AM- Early Dismissal (Classroom Pick-Up, No Bridges)

The second day of school is an early dismissal day. Early dismissal is at 11:30AM instead of noon. Please note there is no after-school Bridges program until Monday, August 19th.


12:30PM - 4:00PM- Hopes & Fears Conferences (Day 2)

Thursday is the second day of the Hopes & Fears Conferences. Please see the Day 1 information listed above for more details.

Friday, August 16th - First Full Day of School (Spirit Day Attire)

7:55AM- First Full Day of School Begins

The third day of school is the first full day of school. Standard morning carpool will take place.


3:05PM- Classroom Pick-Up/ No Bridges

Oldest and Only Dismissal (PK3, PK4, and Kindergarten)


3:25PM- Classroom Pick-Up/ No Bridges

Bridges will begin on Monday, August 19th.



5:00PM- 8:00PM: Back To School Bash

Join us for Food, Fun, & Fellowship! The Knights of Columbus will be serving hamburgers and hot dogs in the cafeteria, and inflatables will be set up in the gym. We will also have some music and beer out on the pavilion. Come out to the Bash and let's reconnect and kick off the 2024-2025 school year!


While at the Back To School Bash, families will have the opportunity to sign up for a Booster Club level. In addition, the Booster Club Board will be selling yard signs, car stickers, car magnets, and other branded St. Cecilia swag for your family to enjoy! More information about the new items offered at each Booster Club level will be available soon.

Mass Days and Spirit Days

Mass Day is on Wednesday each week, and Spirit Day (and our corresponding weekly all school assemblies) are on Fridays. Attire for Mass day is the Mass dress uniform, and attire for Spirit Days can be a St. Cecilia Catholic School spirit shirt, with either jeans or uniform bottoms. Spirit t-shirts can be purchased at the Back To School Bash on Friday, August 16th, or at our online Spirit Store.

Carpool Information

Please review the information below regarding carpool tags, applying for HOV carpool, and early dismissal carpool. For questions regarding carpool please contact Melissa Mejia.



Carpool Times

  • Early drop off is from 7:00AM to 7:30AM in the front HOV parking lot.
  • HOV Carpool begins at 7:35AM in the front HOV parking lot.
  • Non-HOV Carpool begins at 7:35AM in the main Church parking lot.
  • Oldest and Only arrival for PK3 is from 7:55-8:00AM on all days.
  • Oldest and Only dismissal on regular dismissal days for PK3 - Kindergarten will begin at 3:05PM.
  •  Oldest and Only dismissal on early dismissal days for PK3 - Kindergarten will begin at 11:40AM.


Additional Carpool Information

  •  All morning carpool locations will unload students until 7:55AM. After 7:55AM, you will need to go to the main office to sign your student(s) in at the front desk
  •   Any cars already in the parking lot at 7:55AM will be unloaded however, students not in their classroom at 7:55AM will still be marked tardy even if they unloaded in the parking lot.
  • After the 8:00AM PK3 Oldest and Only drop off, you will need to go to the main office to sign your students in at the front desk.
  •  Please see the additional information below regarding carpool.

 

Replacement Carpool Car and Backpack Tags

All school families were assigned and given carpool numbers and tags during the 2023-24 school year. These numbers will stay with your family throughout your time at St. Cecilia Catholic School.


  • We will no longer have carpool tags available at Sneak-A-Peek. Tags will be sent home with your oldest or only child by the end of next week.
  • If you missed the August 1st deadline to sign up for replacement carpool and backpack tags, there will be another opportunity to sign up. More information will be communicated soon.

Meet The Teacher Night: Thursday, August 29th- 6:30PM - 8:30PM

 

Please mark your calendars for our annual Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, August 29th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. This event is an opportunity for our parents to meet their child(ren)’s classroom teacher(s) and visit their classroom(s). You will also have the opportunity to hear from our Principal, Mr. Matthews regarding the new school year.

Meet the Teacher Night is a parent-only event, intended to give parents a realistic understanding of the expectations, procedures, routines, and learning experiences their child(ren) will have this school year. Parents will be experiencing first-hand what makes our school so special! More information will be shared soon regarding the schedule for the evening.

Child and Youth Protection Safe Environment Training Requirement for All Parents on Campus



All parents are required to complete the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston Child and Youth Protection Safe Environment Training. If you have not completed the training in the past, or need to renew your training please visit this website for more information.

Please note- all parents who plan to be on campus (including lunch in the cafeteria) at any time this school year are required to be Safe Environment trained.

Bridges - After School Program Full Time Sign Up

Families who enroll full-time in our after school program, Bridges, can pay monthly for unlimited use throughout this school year. Students who use Bridges more than five times a month consistently are considered full-time. Families who wish to use full-time Bridges must register in advance by filling out this online form. Only students signed up for our full-time Bridges program are permitted to attend Bridges on early dismissal days. Questions? Contact Bridges

HSA Volunteer Sign Up Opportunities


Room Parent Sign Up Form

Interested in being a room parent for your child's class for the 2024-2025 school year? Please fill out this Room Parent Volunteer Application form. If you have more than one child in the school, please let us know the grade level and child you are interested in being a room parent for. 


The Room Parent Coordinators plan to contact all applicants with the final room parent selections by the end of August. 



HSA Committee Sign Up Form

If you are interested in volunteering for one of the many HSA committees, please fill out this online form. A member of the HSA Board or Committee Chair will follow up with you.

Fall Sports Sign Up & Required Pre-Participation Medical Physicals

The beginning of the school year is fast approaching, and so is the start of middle school athletics. Parents, if you still need to do so, please fill out the sports interest form if you would like to add your child to a fall sport (Cross Country, Football, Soccer, or Volleyball). Those who have already been contacted for fall sports do not need to fill out this Google form.


Please remember that all of our school sports require an annual Pre-Participation form filled out by a doctor and parent before your son or daughter may participate in the first practice, including any team tryouts. Please make sure to get this form completed, scanned, and uploaded here as soon as possible.


Please note: our Cross Country team is the ONLY fall sports team offered to athletes beginning in 3rd grade. All other fall school sports require students to be in 6th-8th grade. Feel free to email Ashley Gomila if you have any questions about athletics.

After School Enrichment Opportunities

 

Every school year, we offer a variety of fee-based after school programs hosted on our campus such as: gymnastics, martial arts, chess, art, dance, and soccer. These after school enrichment opportunities are offered by various outside vendors. You can meet a few of these vendors at our annual Back to School Bash on Friday, August 16th from 5:00PM-8:00PM. The list of offered programs will continue to be updated on our school website over the next few days with additional vendor and registration information.

Summer Assignments and Enrichment Opportunities


At St. Cecilia Catholic School, we are committed to the ongoing education and enrichment of our students, even throughout the summer months. In an effort to review previously learned grade level math skills, foster a love of reading, and inspire continual learning in our students, your child’s teachers have curated summer Math and Reading assignments, which can be found on the St. Cecilia Summer Assignment and Enrichment Website. This website will serve as a hub for all of our St. Cecilia students entering PK3 through 8th Grade. Click here for a screencast on how to navigate the website and an overview of the grade level assignments. All Summer Assignments for students entering 1st through 8th grade are due on August 14, 2024. Your child’s teacher for the 2024-2025 school year will follow up with your child at the start of the school year for all completed summer assignments. If you have any further questions, you should contact your child’s current teacher or Cindy Orlando, the Director of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation.

Auction Volunteer Sign Up


What is the Auction?

The Auction is our school’s largest annual fundraiser and is a historically fun night out for our parents and friends of St. Cecilia. Funds are raised for this event in various ways throughout the school year. These include a live and silent Auction the night of the event, Neon Night Glow Party, Fun with Faculty Parties, and Sign Up Parties. Thanks to the members of our school community, the Auction raised over $478,000 for St. Cecilia Catholic School last year!

The 2023-2024 Yearbooks have arrived!


The 2023-2024 yearbooks have arrived and will be sent home with the oldest/only on the first day of school. Click HERE to see if you have purchased a yearbook. If your name is not on the list, we have extra copies available – use this link to buy a yearbook. For those that had an 8th grader last year, those books will be held for a special pick up and reunion of our graduates. If you need them to be sent home with a sibling instead, please contact Kimberly Lowrey.

Walking with Purpose

Walking with Purpose, a women’s bible study active in hundreds of parishes in the U.S. is back this Fall with 2 new studies. We are eager to get back to the community—back to our Bible study and community of friends who encourage us to become the Image of God.

The HSA Caring Committee is a volunteer group that supports St. Cecilia Catholic School families who are dealing with illness, death, or crisis.
