APRIL 2020
Attention commercial fishermen, seafood businesses, aquaculture and for-hire fishing guides....A message from NOAA:

Stakeholders interested in sharing information on the effects of COVID-19 on their businesses can submit that information to: NMFS.COVID-19@noaa.gov.

Some suggestions on types of information to include in comments sent to NOAA:

  1. What type of business do you have (harvester, processor, charter fisherman, etc.).
  2. What is the size of your business (how many pounds a year to you process/land,
  3. How many charter trips, or average annual revenue);
  4. How many crew/employees do you have?
  5. Seasonality of your business throughout the year.
  6. Current impacts experienced since February (price drops),
  7. Lack of sales
  8. Loss of access to docks/boat ramps and/or supplies (bait, etc- suggest providing losses in dollars, or in percentage of loss for each month).
  9. What factors are impacting your business most right now (loss of restaurant market, lack of tourism, etc.).
  10. Have you had to reduce hours or let go of employees
  11. Have you reduced or stopped purchasing from suppliers (fishermen, bait dealers, etc.)
