You're Never Ready for a Dental Emergency. WE ARE.

What to Do in a Dental Emergency

Emergencies are never easy to plan for, and dental ones can be especially stressful. Whether you’ve broken or lost a tooth, or you’re dealing with sudden pain or swelling, don’t wait to call us.

We’re here to help when the unexpected happens. “We see emergency patients right away, even when our schedule is full,” says Dr. Reena Dev. “We’ll take X-rays as needed to find out what’s going on.”

When to Call Us Right Away

A dental emergency is any painful issue that interrupts your normal activities. Common examples include:

  • Severe tooth pain or swelling
  • A broken, cracked, or knocked-out tooth
  • An abscess or infection

Because most emergencies need in-person care, it’s best to call us immediately so we can get you in quickly.

What You Can Do Before Your Visit

While you’re on your way to our office, here are a few steps that may help ease your discomfort:

  • Take ibuprofen or another over-the-counter pain reliever
  • Rinse with warm salt water
  • Apply a warm or cold compress to the affected area

If a tooth gets knocked out, place it in milk or water to protect the root - we may be able to reinsert it. And please, don’t try to fix it yourself! It can cause more pain or damage.

We’re Here When You Need Us

We handle dental emergencies every day, from sudden toothaches to injuries. Our office is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and we always have a dentist on call after hours and on weekends.

Prevent Future Emergencies

The best way to prevent urgent visits is to stay on top of your regular cleanings. Most adult toothaches start from small cavities that go untreated, until they reach the nerve and cause intense pain. Regular checkups help catch small problems before they become painful emergencies.

Don’t Wait - Call Us Immediately

If you’re ever in pain or unsure whether your situation is an emergency, give us a call right away at 847-577-7171. We’ll assess your symptoms, guide you through next steps, and help you feel better fast. Your immediate comfort is always our goal!

It's National Dental Hygiene Month!

This month, we’re recognizing the unsung heroes of your smile: our amazing dental hygienists, and the healthy habits that keep your teeth and gums strong for life.

Your hygienist does more than clean your teeth. They help protect your overall health by catching early signs of gum disease, decay, and other issues before they become bigger problems. Regular visits also keep your breath fresh and your smile bright.

This October, commit to the basics:

• Brush twice a day

• Floss daily

• Rinse with mouthwash

• Schedule your regular dental exam and cleaning

If it’s been a while since your last visit, now’s the perfect time to get back on track. No judgment, no lectures - we just look forward to seeing your smile!

Did you know your oral health plays a role in your metabolism and overall health?

Poor oral hygiene can contribute to gum disease and chronic inflammation. Research suggests this inflammation may be associated with metabolic problems, including elevated blood sugar, high blood pressure, and weight gain. Gum disease may also affect the balance of bacteria in your gut, another important part of your overall health.

The good news is that simple habits can help protect both your smile and your health:

  • Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
  • Floss - daily!
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Choose nutritious foods and limit added sugar
  • Avoid tobacco products
  • Keep up with regular dental checkups and cleanings

Your mouth is connected to the rest of your body. Taking care of your smile is an easy way to support your overall health. Learn more: Poor Oral Hygiene and Metabolism. Healthy mouth, healthy you!

Helpful Benefit Reminders:

  • Most dental benefits operate on an annual basis, from January 1 to December 31.
  • Preventative services are available to you with no co-pay, so take advantage of continuous care dental cleanings!
  • If you've already satisfied your deductible, now is the time to get in those last minute treatments, especially in you're in need of treatment that is costly.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are a use-it-or-lose it type benefit. If you fail to use the money you deposited into the account before the year is up, you'll forfeit the fund.
