Camp Kawartha's mission is to inspire environmental leaders and stewards of all ages through dynamic, accessible, year-round outdoor programming and powerful partnerships to create meaningful change.

The Curtain Comes Down on Summer Camp 2023!

We are wrapping up the end of a fantastic summer camp season! Our campers and staff have enjoyed a summer that finally feels “back to normal” after the pandemic, and our physical site is steadily recovering from last spring’s storm.

Our staff brought incredible programming to life, made special memories for campers, and developed new initiatives such as our Wilderness & Leadership program, and our partnership with the New Canadians Centre!

Mark September 30th, 2023, on your calendar!

Glen Caradus and Nick Ormond will be riding 280KM non-stop to highlight what preindustrial levels of carbon (280 parts per million) once were like in a stable climate.

We have piloted our all-gender cabin and continue to work toward more inclusive spaces at camp. This summer we have been learning about and eating nutritious foods from our expanded gardens, and re-discovering our newly re-opened “range” space!

Thank you to everyone who made this summer magical, we are already excited about 2024 – registration opens November 1st at 7pm!

The Community Services Recovery Fund is Helping Us Adapt

The Community Services Recovery Fund (CSR) is a $400 million investment from the Government of Canada to support community service organizations like Camp Kawartha with funding to help us adapt and modernize. As our longer-term recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we were thrilled the Government of Canada's push to include Not-For-Profits in a model of economic growth that creates opportunities for development and redevelopment.

Shoreline Garden

We have seen bees, butterflies, and birds taking advantage of the Shoreline Garden – the smorgasbord of native blooms has the place hopping with activity!

Our summer team of Alyssa and Micheal have kept an eye on its progress and report pulling some unwelcome guests such as vetch or horsetail, but otherwise they have just let nature handle it – nature as we know, knows best.

Remembering Our Dear Friend Ralph Ingleton

For most of his career, Ralph was an outdoor educator with a deep knowledge and love of nature. He taught literally thousands of children from all grades. What made Ralph such a special teacher was his ability to combine art with science and other subjects to make the outdoors come to life for students. Ralph was a gifted artist, who has an eye for the flowing and organic natural forms around him; teaching children to see and appreciate nature in new ways.
