Staples Orphenians Perform for Y's Men Tomorrow

The Staples Orphenians will perform for Y's Men tomorrow in Church Sanctuary.

The Staples Orphenians, the elite vocal ensemble from Staples High School, will sing us into the holiday season tomorrow with a selection of musical highlights from last weekend's annual Candlelight Concert, as well as some traditional standards of the season.

They will perform in the Sanctuary of the Saugatuck Congregational Church beginning at 10:00 am tomorrow, Thursday, December 19.

Coffee, donuts and bagels will be served as usual in Hoskins Hall from 9:00 to 9:45 am, after which we will proceed up to the Sanctuary. No refreshments are allowed in the Sanctuary. There will be no business meeting.

No Thursday Morning Meetings on December 26 and January 2

After tomorrow's performance by the Staples Orphenians, the next Y's Men Thursday morning meeting will be January 9, 2025.

There will be no meetings on Thursday, December 26 and Thursday, January 2. We wish all Y's Men and their families Season's Greetings and a Happy New Year.

Any Interest in Forming an Activity in Mindfulness?

Paul Epstein recently joined the Y’s Men and would like to start a mindfulness group.

He says that "there is a growing body of research on the benefits of mindfulness for health, healing, and happiness. If there’s enough interest, we can figure out the details together.

"For instance, we might start with a period of meditation followed by a discussion of various teachings. We could then end each session by exploring ways to integrate mindfulness into our daily lives."

He suggests that a first meeting could be held at his home. Paul has taught mindfulness for 50 years, including at the Westport Center for Senior Activities. He also is the author of Happiness through Meditation.

For more information and further discussion, contact Paul at epsteinmb@aol.com

Can You See This?

You may be able to read this, but many others can’t.

They need your help, and now it’s easy for you to give it to them.

Please bring your unused glasses, whether prescription or just readers, and drop them in the donation box in Hoskins Hall during the coffee hour at tomorrow's morning meeting. Do it then because the Staples Orphenians will be performing at 10:00 am in the Church's sanctuary.

The more pairs you bring, the more people you help, so bring in those unused glasses, or you will have to answer to Jon Fox.
