FOREST PARK, Ga. — July 23, 2025 — This week, Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA, and members of the Forest Park City Council officially appointed Rochelle Dennis as the city's new Director of Economic Development. Dennis, who brings more than 25 years of robust experience in the fields of business development and public-private partnerships, was promoted from her previous role as Interim Director and will now lead the department's efforts to implement policies and strategies that support enhanced revitalization efforts, small business creation and strong job growth.
Prior to joining the City of Forest Park in August 2023, Dennis previously served as the Economic Development Director for the City of Morrow where she oversaw functions related to planning, zoning and the city's downtown development authority boards. From 2019 to 2021, Dennis also served as a Constituent Aide for the Clayton County Board of Commissioners. Additional professional roles include Vice President of Resource Development for the Atlanta Police Foundation, instructor at the Georgia Center for Nonprofits and Executive Director for Hands on Charlotte.
"Economic development is more than a department. It’s the strategic heartbeat of Forest Park’s future," said City Manager Ricky L. Clark, Jr. "As we work to revitalize key corridors, attract investment and create lasting opportunity, this role is truly transformational. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Director Rochelle Dennis for many years, and her growth in this field has been remarkable. She’s a seasoned professional and a visionary – someone who understands that real progress is about more than dollars; it’s about people and community. Her blend of technical expertise and strategic insight will be essential in driving Forest Park’s continued growth. From supporting local entrepreneurs to shaping a more inclusive economy, her leadership will be a powerful force in our city’s future. We’re fortunate to have her at the helm of this critical work."
A graduate of both the Georgia Academy for Economic Development and the Atlanta Regional Commission Leadership Institute, Dennis received her bachelor's degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her master's degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of South Carolina. During her professional career, she has also volunteered with several community organizations, including the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, Women of Clayton County Foundation and the Richland County Public Library in South Carolina.
"With our prime location, committed leadership and vibrant business-friendly climate, Forest Park is experiencing an economic resurgence that supports a new era for opportunities," said Dennis. "I look forward to continuing working alongside our development boards, community leaders and business owners so that together, we are able to drive meaningful progress that improves the overall quality of life for our wonderful residents."
