Morning Edition series: Banned books
With book banning on the rise, the team at Morning Edition has been reading some of those most often being removed from the catalogs of public schools and libraries. NPR has covered the issue from the point of view of school boards and parents, and now is listening to the writers themselves in a series begun this month. On Wednesdays through January, you'll be hearing interviews with authors of books on several banned lists, plus you can read their essays on why they wrote what they did and who they hope will read their books.

KGOU Readers Club: Rilla Askew's 'Prize for the Fire'
Readers go back in time to England at the time of King Henry VIII in Rilla Askew's latest historical novel, Prize for the Fire. She pieces together the story of a real historical figure, Anne Askew, a fiercely independent young woman who defied the conventions of the Reformation, ultimately braving the fire of martyrdom for her convictions. Listen in on the discussion led by host Logan Layden on the next KGOU Readers Club, Monday, Dec. 26 at 1 p.m. with an encore broadcast Sunday, Jan. 1 at 12 p.m.

Year-end fundraising update: Closing in on the goal!
KGOU's December fundraising campaign goal of 500 contributions by Dec. 31 is coming into sight. We're counting all donations -- first-time, renewing, rejoining, and additional gifts -- in this community partnership with Home Creations to provide funding for KGOU and for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
To those of you who have given support to KGOU in 2022 -- thank you! You make what we do possible, this year and into the next. A tax-deductible donation to KGOU is a way to give back for nonprofit news, information and entertainment, and 'pay it forward' to Oklahomans in need, thanks to Home Creations.
