Dear St. Alphonsus Families,
We are in the home stretch! The school calendar in the newsletter is down to one column of "dates to remember," which is always a signal that the end of the school year is winding down.
We have just a few short reminders this week:
Wednesday, May 21 is a Pizza Lunch Fundraiser Day. Please remember that if you did not order a pizza lunch, there is no hot lunch or milk served that day, so you will need to send your student with a cold lunch packed from home.
Cougar Outdoor Extravaganza is coming up on Tuesday, June 3! We could use a few volunteers for this event! You can find the sign-up genius here. More information about this event will be in next week's newsletter, which will be published on TUESDAY, May 27.
Friday, May 23 is early dismissal at 11:30am to kick off the Memorial Day weekend, and then of course Monday, May 26 there is no school. Enjoy the long weekend!
Please be sure to check out all the other great items in this week's newsletter.
Best regards,
Ms. Parey, Principal
Mrs. Schermetzler & Mrs. Bruhn, Leadership Team

Private Music Lessons with Mrs. Greco!
Over the summer, Mrs. Greco will be offering private guitar and ukulele lessons at school. Lessons are available for students going into 2nd grade and older. Students must be able to provide their own instruments.
I charge $20 for a 30 minute lesson. I am planning to teach on Wednesday afternoons. If Wednesday afternoons don’t work for you, please still send me an email and if there is enough interest, I may teach one additional day. If you are interested, please send Mrs. Greco an email with your child's availability on Wednesday afternoons by Friday, May 23rd.

On Friday, Our 8th Graders Had Their Annual Rocket Launch!
The rocket launch has been a fun St. Alphonsus tradition the last few years. Students learn about the physics and mechanics of building & launching rockets and spend time in the school science lab crafting their own.
The whole school attends to see which rockets get off the ground. It was a beautiful day for it! Thank you to Mr. Kneifl, Mrs. Biernat, and her husband for this fun science event!

Calling all Room Parents!
First, we’d like to say THANK YOU to all the current room parents for volunteering their time this year to assist teachers and school with various events and activities throughout the year! We appreciate your time!
Now is the time to consider becoming a room parent for the 2025-2026 school year!
Room parents provide valuable assistance to our teachers by being the liaison between the teacher and classroom parents.
If you are interested in being a room parent, please email Dawn Eisold and include your name, email, phone number and your child’s name and grade for 2025-2026 to be put on a list for fall.
Room parents will be contacted in late August. Please let us know if you have any questions and thanks for volunteering! All room parents must be safeguarded.

The New Family Committee is looking for volunteer mentor families!
Help us welcome new families to St. Alphonsus! This is a very low-key commitment and a great way to get your whole family involved at school. We ask mentor families to exchange contact information with new families so they can have someone to contact with questions, and all mentor & new families attend a social event to welcome them to the school in the fall. Your relationship with your mentor family can be as involved as you want it to be!
If interested, please contact Dawn Eisold.

Calling All FUN RUN Sponsors!
Our only fall fundraiser—the Fun Run—will be back this fall! In order to make this Fun Run the best one yet, we need your help getting T-shirt sponsors this summer. There are four levels of sponsorship: $100, $250, $500 and $750. All sponsors receive their logo on the official Fun Run T-shirt and recognition in the weekly school newsletter throughout the fall.
Sponsors can be the company you or a family member works for, or a local business that you frequent. Not sure about making the ask yourself? Send us your ideas and we’ll do the legwork!
Please contact Olivia Hartley with your donations and ideas, and thank you in advance for your support!

South Side Panthers Lacrosse Club!
We are the brand new community lacrosse youth club that is for 3rd-8th grade boys and girls who live in Greenfield, Greendale, and Milwaukee!
We are super excited to bring lacrosse to this area. We know that most students have never picked up a lacrosse stick, so to build interest, we are throwing a free "try-it clinic" at Zablocki Park on July 24th at 6:30pm. All equipment will be provided; students just need to bring a can-do attitude!
For more information please contact Nate Fell via email.
