Tips for Managing Axiety

If you or your children are feeling anxious, regularly doing the following tips can help you effectevely manage stress and anxiety.

Here are some important things to remember:

Exercise: Vary the type of exercise and try to make at least part of it outside.

Relax: Practice deep muscle relaxation and regulated breating techniques.

Put First Things First: Prioritize activities and avoid overbooking your schedule. Avoid or limit time-wasting activities such as watching TV or social media.

Set Boundaries: Sometimes, it's necessary to say "no." Do not agree to duties, events, or obligations which you know may be overwhelming for you.

Have Fun: Make time for recreational activities

Be Socially Active: Instead of avoiding activities that cause anxiety, ease into them to gain confidence and to feel more comfortable in those situations.

Rest: Maintain a regular sleep pattern. Take breaks in between activities.

Feed your Well-Being: Have good nutrition, practice postive self-talk, and stay hydrated.

Talk about any anxious feelings or write down those feelings in a journal. Reach out for help if needed.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE COUNTS!

Missing just a couple of days a month can really impact your school performance.

Going to school regularly will ensure that your child is not falling behind in lessons. Missing just a day or two of classes could cause your child to miss important concepts being introduced. Absences should be reserved for days when your child is truly ill, or for emergency situations. Remember to send an excuse to school with your child, so that valid records can be kept on file.

Get in the habit of checking attendance in the Student Progress Center. Encourage your child to take notice of the number of school days missed. Being able to log into the SPC to see attendance records may be a great motivator to help your child set goals.
