President's Message

Running a successful community association calls for teamwork and clearly defined roles. The board of directors and the management team have distinct but complementary roles, working together a well-maintained, financially sound, and harmonious community.

The board sets priorities, adopts rules, approves projects, and allocates resoures. Board members also serve as representative of the owners, while management works with the board, providing strategy and expertise to execute board decisions. Management helps develop plans, advises on legal compliance, oversees maintenance and coordinates wirh vendors, among many roles. While the board makes final decisions, management offers the operational know-how and day-to-day oversight needed to put the board’s vision into action. This collaboration is essential for success.

Please contact Tracey in the management office (734-769-2344) or President Alisande Cutler (734-669-4073) if you are interested in being considered for a board position or would like to join a committee. Also, let us know if you have another committee to suggest.

Summit View South Entrance

The long-delayed work at the south entrance continues to be frustrating for all of us. Unfortunately, the latest delay involves the permit required for relocation of the water main. As part of the permitting process, the City now requires a new easement survey to be completed. Our engineer with ETC has hired Washtenaw Engineering to complete the survey and assist with the permitting process. He is also continuing efforts to identify the appropriate City of Ann Arbor contact for co-owners to reach out to directly, although that has proven challenging so far.

In the meantime, co-owners who wish to express concerns or seek additional information may try contacting one of the representatives listed on the City of Ann Arbor Construction Building webpage or contact Call for Action to see if they are able to assist in moving the process forward.

Don’t Get Detoured - Stay in the Know!

While our project is still delayed, construction season is ramping up. Road closures, lane shifts, and detours are popping up all over Ann Arbor. And let’s be honest, they are also frustrating, especially when they catch you by surprise. The good news? You can stay one step ahead. The City offers email updates on current and upcoming road projects so you know what to expect before you head out. Click the “Subscribe” link on the city's website. A quick heads-up can make all the difference in avoiding delays and keeping your day on track.

Fair Housing Policy

The Summit View Board of Directors recently adopted a Fair Housing Policy, which was distributed to co-owners via email on April 27. The policy reaffirms Summit View’s commitment to maintaining a respectful, welcoming, and non-discriminatory community for all residents, guests, vendors, and others who interact with the Association.

The policy also outlines how concerns related to discrimination or harassment may be reported and investigated, along with protections against retaliation for individuals who raise concerns in good faith. Having a clear Fair Housing Policy helps ensure that all co-owners understand their rights and responsibilities while supporting a safe and harmonious living environment within our community.

For convenience, the Fair Housing Policy is also available on at SummitViewCondos.com on the Documents page under Policies.

Spotlight on Ross Smyth

Ross Smyth is an Ann Arbor area local resident who has lived at Summit View for two years. He attended Chelsea High School where he played trombone in the marching band and participated in robotics. His family lived on a farm outside Chelsea, so he rode horses from a young age.

After high school, he went to the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan to attend Michigan Tech, where he played in the pep band and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Next was an internship with a start-up company, Orbion Space Technology, also in the U.P. A position with a Saline company, Electrocraft, as a software engineer brought him back to his home area. Read more about Ross.

Don't let this be the last Summit View Newsletter!

We’re looking for a volunteer editor to help keep our community informed and connected. The time commitment is modest — just a couple of hours spread out every other month. Responsibilities mainly include gathering a few short articles, coordinating a co-owner spotlight, and assembling the newsletter. (Good news: the Board President writes the president’s message!) If you enjoy writing, organizing information, or helping build community connections, this is a great way to contribute to Summit View.
