Stanford hospital
adds missing piece to its $2B facility: patients
|
After spending $2 billion and 10 years in planning and construction a new hospital, Stanford Health Care is just days away from its most-anticipated moment: wheeling in patients.
The new ER is the full length of a football field and includes 66 individual patient rooms, a stark contrast to the current, often-cramped emergency department.
CEO David Entwistle will escort the first patient across the enclosed Sky Bridge from the old hospital at 300 Pasteur Drive to the new one at 9 a.m. after a ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening remarks. Nike unveils new shoe designed for medical workers
|
The Nike Air Zoom Pulse is a shoe for everyday heroes: nurses, doctors, home-health providers, and others who work tirelessly to support patients.
The shoe has a Pulse's full-rubber outsole, a flexible drop-in midsole with a Zoom Air heel unit, and a heel fit so secure, it feels like a soft, snug hug.
The coated toe box protects against any type of spill. Smooth surfaces present a unique challenge when designing for spills as well, and the shoe's traction pattern solves for this by removing closed cells...

Premier Inc. acquires Medpricer for $35M
|
Premier Inc. (Charlotte, NC) has acquired Medpricer, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider of technology solutions that enable hospitals and other organizations to analyze, benchmark and source purchased services contracts independent of any existing GPO affiliation.
Premier funded the $35 million acquisition with borrowings under its existing credit facility. Medpricer’s current employees are expected to continue operations from their existing northern California office, or remotely.
Current CEO Chris Gormley will continue to lead the business as part of Premier’s Supply Chain Services segment. Medpricer’s spend management platform uses machine learning to validate, compare and onboard purchased services suppliers; track and measure spend by category, supplier and facility; benchmark contracts terms to ensure competitive rates; set and manage specific savings targets; and manage contract compliance.
Medpricer gives Premier a scalable technology platform and data-driven evidence designed to help users gain control over purchased services spend, regardless of GPO affiliation.

National Accounts Today podcast: with Therese Grossi
|
How do you improve diversity in healthcare, and the nation’s workplaces in general? Make it a priority.
Study after study shows that gender diversity leads to better business results, says Therese Grossi, Independent Consultant and National Accounts Veteran, “so there’s a business reason that you would think everyone would want to be engaged.”
Grossi says two things need to happen. “The first thing would be the male leaders who make the majority of the hiring decisions have to seek diverse candidates. They have to look harder and develop more.”
It’s not good enough to say a woman didn’t apply for the job, because it’s no secret that women tend not to raise their hands if they don’t believe that they’re fully and completely qualified, Grossi says. “And I think that if a male leader says the right things but surrounds himself with mostly men, then that leader is really no better than a leader who doesn’t even acknowledge that there’s an opportunity to..."
