Hello!

I am excited to report on the results of our recent Women & Finance survey!

First, mark your calendars for April 10th, 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Based on your input, we’ll be moving forward with hosting a barre3 group exercise class event at the Royal Oak location. We’ll have some time for socializing/networking and will enjoy light appetizers after the class. Be on the lookout for the registration link!

Our committee will be fleshing out the event calendar for the rest of 2026 soon so we can give you as much advance notice as possible. “Scheduling” was the number one barrier to participation.

We received some great suggestions regarding topics and speakers for future events. We will be using that information in our planning going forward both for our Women & Finance events and for this fall’s Symposium.

On to the results! Let’s begin with a shout out to our raffle winners: Congratulations, Deanna Harless and Andrea Kotch Duda, your $15 coffee shop gift cards are on their way to you. Enjoy! We had 25 women who took the time out of their busy day to give us their honest feedback and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Here’s what you told us:

  • You’re most interested in events focused on technical skill-building (e.g. tax planning, estate planning), business development, and investment education. But you also want to meet with your peers in wellness, active, and casual social settings.
  • You don’t need to hear about what women clients want that might be different from men (because I think we intuitively already know). As one of our commentors put it, “We need more women in finance…to bring what women bring so completely and naturally. Emotion, genuine connection, honesty, lack of ego, innate expertise, innate strategic ability, innate community building and philanthropy.”

In-person events were the most popular choice, followed by hybrid (in-person with ability to be virtual). Late afternoon (3-5pm) was the resounding preferred time. There was not a lot of interest in weekend events.

Location-wise, Royal Oak and Detroit were selected by more than half of respondents. Bloomfield Hills, Ann Arbor, and Troy were also popular

Twenty percent of the respondents are not currently FPA members. We’d love to have you all join, but we’re also happy to welcome you to our community and to our events regardless!

To all of my Women & Finance friends, please keep the communication lines open. Feel free to reach out to me anytime. I’d love to hear more of your thoughts and ideas about how we can continue to grow and support this community so that we may all be at our best to help ourselves, our colleagues, and our clients flourish.

Thanks again,
