Resolutions Sought by June 15
Is there a family medicine issue that concerns you? Do you have a colleague who needs recognition? Consider writing a resolution!

All Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians members are invited to write and submit resolutions for consideration at the MAFP Business Meeting held on the Tuesday during the MAFP Annual Scientific Assembly. Submissions are due June 15 each year.

Writing and presenting resolutions is a great opportunity to direct MAFP policy and address issues of interest or concern to family physicians and family medicine. Resolutions can also honor outstanding individual achievement or memorialize deceased family physician leaders. More information.

Split the Pot, Silent Auction, Raffle Update
Tickets are now being sold for the MAFP Foundation's Split the Pot fund raiser. The drawing will be held Wednesday, July 20, during the MAFP Annual Meeting, at 10 am in the exhibit hall. The jackpot for the winner will be half of the monies raised for the event, with the other half going to the Foundation. Buy Split the Pot tickets online.

Donations are now being accepted for the Foundation's raffle fund raiser as well. Last year's prizes included 20+ items displayed in the exhibit hall. Attendees purchase a pack of raffle tickets (5 for $25) and drop their tickets into the bowl for the item or items they want. Raffle drawings are then held Wednesday at 10 am in the exhibit hall. All proceeds from the raffle go to the MAFP Foundation. We would love to have an item from your area of the state so please let us know what you can donate by e-mailing Beth Embry.

AAFP Online Community Settings Need Updating for Many Users
The email notification settings for some participants of the AAFP’s online community platform (Member Interest Groups, discussion forums/online communities) have been reset which resulted in email notifications being turned off. The AAFP is investigating how this happened to prevent it from occurring again. We do not believe all members have been impacted. However, we wanted to share instructions on how to verify your online community notification settings.

  1. Go to connect.aafp.org.
  2. Navigate to your profile page by clicking the down-facing arrow in the top right-hand corner of the page, next to the picture icon and the 'Back to AAFP.org' link.
  3. Click 'Profile'.
  4. Find the 'My Account' tab and click the down-facing arrow.
  • Select Email Preferences and check the settings. The Community Emails setting should be Yes to ensure you receive emails.
  • Next, click on the “My Account” tab again and select Community Notifications and check the digest settings for each of your communities. Your email options are Real Time, Daily Digest, or No Email.
