Leadership for What’s Next:
Rev. Stan J. Sloan Named Board Chair
| | |
As Texas Pride Community Foundation enters its next chapter, we are proud to welcome The Rev. Stan J. Sloan, MDiv, MTS, as our new Board Chair.
Stan brings nearly 30 years of leadership as an LGBTQ+ nonprofit CEO, guiding national organizations through moments of growth and transition. As he puts it, his passion “is finding, reaching out to, and providing support to those who are most in need under our LGBTQ+ umbrella.” With Texas Pride’s history of supporting more than 120 LGBTQ+ organizations statewide, it was clear Stan was a strong fit when he joined our board in 2024 and an even stronger one for this moment.

Stan steps into the role as Texas Pride launches a new multi-year phase of work focused on strong governance, fiscal discipline, clear communication, and long-term stewardship. He has already hit the ground running in 2026, beginning his ongoing travels across Texas to connect with community partners who share TPCF’s values and vision. Working closely with our board and staff, Stan is helping ensure the trust placed in Texas Pride by donors and grantees is honored today and for generations to come.
We’re grateful for his leadership and excited for what lies ahead.
| | Three Years of Impact: Texas Health Impact Cohort & the Launch of Our Second Cohort | | |
Over the past three years, the Texas Health Impact Cohort (THICohort) has demonstrated what’s possible when grassroots leaders are trusted, resourced, and connected. Powered by ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action AMP Grant initiative, this work represents a bold, community-driven approach to advancing equity in HIV prevention, care, and wellness across Texas.
Through the AMP Grant incubator model, Texas Pride Community Foundation has been proud to serve as one of several national leads supporting emerging, community-rooted efforts that too often lack access to traditional funding. This model flips the script placing resources directly into the hands of community organizations and leaders who know their communities best.
| | |
Over our first three years our THICohort members have reached almost 59,000 community members, and has functioned as a resource hub and think tank, supporting grassroots HIV outreach through:
- Micro-grants that seed innovative, community-led projects
- Mentorship and leadership development for emerging advocates
- Network-building and collaboration across HIV, health,, and wellness sectors
These investments have helped incubate and strengthen projects focused on expanding linkage to care, increasing engagement in HIV prevention and treatment, reducing stigma, and building trust in healthcare systems while amplifying the voices of people living with HIV.
| |
The THICohort is centered on three core strategies that drive lasting impact:
Networking: Building strong, cross-community connections that reduce silos and foster shared learning.
Linkage & Engagement: Supporting pathways to care that are culturally responsive, affirming, and community-led.
Advocacy: Strengthening the leadership and visibility of people and organizations working to disrupt inequities in HIV care.
Together, these efforts advance outcomes such as increased access to care, stronger community trust, reduced stigma, and more powerful community advocacy.
The program intentionally prioritizes communities most impacted by HIV disparities, including:
- Black men (gay, bisexual, queer, and trans)
- Latinx men (gay, bisexual, queer, and trans)
- Black, Latinx, and Indigenous women (cisgender and transgender)
- Young people living with HIV

Welcoming the Second
Texas Health Impact Cohort
| | |
We are excited to announce the launch of the second Texas Health Impact Cohort, consisting of 12 organizations from across Texas, which officially began in January 2026 and will run through December 2028.
This new three-year cohort will continue the AMP Grant incubator model, convening leaders through:
- Regular virtual cohort connections, and
- An annual in-person convening to deepen relationships, share strategies, and strengthen collective impact.
The Positive Action AMP Grant initiative from ViiV Healthcare represents a transformative way of resourcing grassroots networks by trusting community, funding innovation, and investing in long-term systems change. As we look ahead to the next three years, we are energized by the leadership, creativity, and commitment of this new cohort and grateful for the partners and supporters who make this work possible.
Thank you for standing with us as we continue to disrupt disparities, strengthen care, and build healthier, more equitable communities across Texas.
