Dear Read to Grow Family,
Since I last wrote you about our response to COVID-19 and my son Alexander's idea about a dragon, Read to Grow has been busy figuring out
new and creative ways to distribute books to children
during this challenging time.
Thanks to the generous support of many of you and with the help of Senator Chris Murphy, our founder, Roxanne Coady, and RJ Julia Booksellers, we have been able to quickly raise funds specifically to purchase new, diverse books to be distributed to children picking up meals at school meal distribution sites in New Haven, Bridgeport, Norwalk, Middletown and Windham County.
Over the next two months, we will distribute over 30,000 books to children who need them most.
And the work doesn't stop there: our
15 partner hospitals continue to safely distribute our literacy packets and our "Welcome To The World" book to babies
born during this time. Many of our Book Places continue to distribute books to the families that stop by to pick up other needed items. We continue to receive requests for books to be mailed home and many generous individuals have asked if they can drop off book donations.
But we need your help to continue having an impact. Please consider supporting
Read to Grow through The Great Give 2020
We are working round the clock to determine how we may most safely reopen some of our services so that we can continue to meet the demand for books for children across Connecticut.
Any amount you give up until 8pm on Wednesday, May 6th will be matched by the generous NewAlliance Foundation.
Very humbly yours,
Suzannah Holsenbeck
