Helping You Visit Our Nation’s Capital | |
A visit to Washington is a special opportunity to experience our nation’s history and government, and our office is here to help make that experience possible. So far this year, we have helped NY-24 constituents book approximately 100 tours of the U.S. Capitol and White House and request more than 80 American flags flown over the U.S. Capitol. Capitol-flown flags can also include personalized certificates recognizing a person, milestone, event, or organization. If you are planning a trip to Washington or would like to request an American flag, our team is ready to help.

You deserve to know not only how your Representative votes in Congress, but why. That’s why I explain my votes and provide constituents with information about the legislation considered by the House. So far this year, I have published explanations of 167 votes, giving NY-24 residents greater transparency into the decisions I make on their behalf in Washington. Accountability begins with keeping the people you represent informed, and I will continue making my voting record and the reasoning behind my decisions readily available to you.

As your representative in Congress, my top priority is championing legislative initiatives that benefit you and your families. Each week, I review numerous bills and letters, engaging in thorough discussions with members of our community to determine which actions to support and address your needs. Below are a few bills I recently cosponsored.
H.Res. 1618, Recognizing the third anniversary of the October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks on Israel, honoring the victims and the hostages, and calling for the complete disarmament of Hamas for a durable end to the war in Gaza: This resolution condemns the October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks against Israel, honors the hostages and their families, and supports Israel’s right to self-defense. The resolution also condemns the rise in anti-Semitism following the October 7 attacks and reaffirms the commitment of the United States to combating anti-Semitic hatred and violence. The October 7 Massacre resulted in the murder, rape, brutalization, and kidnapping of civilians, including Americans, and Hamas continues to target civilians. This resolution reaffirms America’s support for Israel’s security and demands accountability for Hamas.
H.R. 5498, the Small Business Health Options Awareness Act of 2026: This bill would help small businesses better understand available options for providing health care benefits to their employees. Specifically, it would require the Small Business Administration to distribute information developed by appropriate federal agencies about Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements, or ICHRAs, through Small Business Development Centers, SBA district offices, and the agency's existing communications and outreach channels. ICHRAs allow employers to provide tax-advantaged reimbursements that employees can use to purchase individual health insurance coverage, offering small businesses an alternative to traditional group health plans. This legislation helps ensure small business owners are aware of available health coverage options, gives employers greater flexibility in providing benefits, and helps small businesses compete for and retain workers.
H.R. 8497, the Supporting Energy and Economic Development (SEED) Act: This bill would extend federal tax incentives for biodiesel and renewable diesel through 2029 to provide greater certainty for domestic fuel producers and agricultural markets. Specifically, it would extend the biodiesel and renewable diesel income tax credit, related excise tax incentives, and payments for qualifying fuels not used for taxable purposes from their previous 2024 expiration through 2029. Supporting domestic biodiesel and renewable diesel production can expand markets for American agricultural products while diversifying the nation's fuel supply. This legislation would help provide long-term certainty for producers, support American farmers and rural economies, and strengthen domestic energy production.
| | Niagara County Emergency Services Roundtable | | This week, our office met with Niagara County and municipal officials, emergency responders, and infrastructure representatives to discuss the flooding and severe weather that affected communities throughout the county this summer and the steps needed to strengthen future preparedness. The conversation covered drainage and creek maintenance, stormwater impacts on wastewater infrastructure, disaster assistance, permitting, funding, and the need for better coordination across municipalities and watersheds. I am grateful to the emergency personnel and local officials working to protect Niagara County residents, and I will continue looking for ways the federal government can support local preparedness and resilient infrastructure. | | Avon Hardware & Supplies Ribbon Cutting | | Recently, our office joined the Avon community to celebrate the ribbon cutting for Avon Hardware & Supplies, a new locally owned business opened by Avon native Peter Vonglis. Neighbors, friends, local officials, and future customers came together to welcome Peter and his team as they prepare to serve the community with hardware, home repair supplies, and other everyday services. Our team was glad to see such a strong turnout for a local entrepreneur investing in his hometown and bringing a neighborhood hardware store to Avon. Congratulations to Peter and everyone who helped bring this new business to life, and best wishes as Avon Hardware & Supplies begins serving the community. | | Newark Walmart Ribbon Cutting | | This week, our office also joined the Newark community to celebrate the grand reopening of Walmart following extensive renovations to the store. The improvements include an expanded online order pickup area, an updated pharmacy, a refreshed store layout, and new amenities to better serve local shoppers. Store Manager Chris Neal and his team welcomed community members, including Newark Mayor Jonathan Taylor and Assemblyman Brian Manktelow, with Walmart associates taking part in the ribbon cutting. The celebration was a great opportunity to recognize the hardworking employees who serve Newark and the surrounding communities and highlight the continued investment in the store’s future. | | |
