Common Ground Community Garden

Zinnias are not native to our area but our bees and butterflies like them.

Most gardeners do also for their bright colors, long blooming, and ease of growing. Our patches of zinnias in the garden generally have lots of pollinator visitors.

The bee captured here was identified by two plant ID apps as being Eastern Curcubit Bee, aka as Squash Bee that feeds mostly on pollen of squash blooms and even sleeps in them. No squash plants in sight! This one was stationary for a good while so could have just been resting.
