SLO Reminders
As teachers progress monitor SLO goals, the mid-course conference is the time when administrators can allow teachers to modify or adjust the goals. This change would typically be for students who have met, are close to, or have exceeded their SLO goal, or for those who will not likely meet their goal. SCLead has a specific tab for the SLO mid-course conference, if needed. For questions or support, reach out to your ADEPT regional contact or our SLO Support, Roshonda Frazier, rfrazier@ed.sc.gov.
Induction & Mentoring Reminders
It’s time to prepare for 2022-23 Induction 1 counts. Your district will receive funding based on the number of Induction 1 teachers reported. OEELD determines these numbers by reviewing the evaluation records in SCLead.org. Dr. Howard will reach out to you via email by January 20 to verify the accuracy of your induction count. Any necessary adjustments to Induction 1 contract and evaluation levels must be made by February 1. Districts may use the evaluation settings, bulk evaluations feature, or the import spreadsheet in SCLead.org to manage these settings. To verify that all Induction 1 educators in your district are accounted for, pull the Staff Evaluations ADEPT report in SCLead.org, and filter to only include Induction 1 educators. As you check your Induction 1 count, we offer these reminders of the process:
•     Only educators who have been issued a certificate will be included in the Induction 1 count; if an educator is not certified by January 31, the evaluation should be closed/made Incomplete and the contract and evaluation should be repeated the next year of hire.
•     If an educator is hired with less than 152 days left in the school year, the district may hire the educator on a Letter of Agreement.
•     If an educator was hired on an Induction contract with the intent of completing the PACE program but did not get into the winter cohort, the evaluation should be closed/made Incomplete.
If an educator was hired on an Induction contract through the PACE program and successfully meets all requirements of Winter PACE I, he/she will be issued a certificate and will be included in the Induction 1 count.
PADEPP Reminder
During this time, principals and evaluators should be documenting evidence for exemplary professional performance. The Principal’s Professional Development Plan should be in process and signed by both the principal and evaluation chair. The Orientation Conference should be signed by both the principal and evaluation chair. The evaluation chair should let the principal know the date for the upcoming Mid-Year Conference. Typically, the Mid-Year Conferences are held in December or January. If you have any questions or concerns, please refer to the monthly PADEPP Connect newsletters or reach out to Dr. Vicki Traufler, PADEPP Coordinator, at vtraufler@ed.sc.gov.
