DPS Board of Education Finance and Audit Session Feb. 13
The Board of Education will hold a Finance and Audit session on Monday, Feb. 13, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Watch the meeting on board.dpsk12.org and access the agenda on BoardDocs.
New Employee Space Timeline
After careful consideration, the At Your Service (AYS) Project Team has decided to shift the launch of the HR, Payroll and Recruiting Phase of the New Employee Space to a later date. This date change will enable DPS to ensure that there are enough supports in place for a successful transition while meeting our goal of putting people at the center of HR and finance services.

What this means for you
All employees and managers will continue to have access to Infor/ Lawson/ GHR/ Learning Space until further notice. This means that recruiting and hiring will continue uninterrupted. Specifically, managers can continue to:

  • Request a new job or a re-evaluation of an existing job, which requires a new or revised job description.
  • Request new position number or position number update for a current employee or old position number you want to post (i.e. FTE, job title, job code, etc.)
  • Create a job requisition.
  • Move candidates to Qualify.
  • View their employees and candidates.

Please note that the previously-communicated cutover dates are no longer in effect. New cutover dates will be communicated at a later date.

We are committed to meeting the needs of the district and will communicate future changes with sufficient time for team members to plan accordingly. Please continue to check The Commons for the most current information.

Top 5: Shoutout a School Counselor
In celebration of National School Counselors Association Week this week, we asked Team DPS members to shout out a school counselor. Thank you to all school counselors across DPS for the work you do in support of our students and staff! Read about some amazing school counselors below and here.
5. “Shout out to Mrs. G for being an amazing support for the mental health and wellbeing of all students at Ellis Elementary. She is always putting students first with everything that she does. This includes having lunch with students, providing families with outside resources, setting up community relationships and providing a safe space for students. Mrs. G is a vital member of our special education team and we would be lost without her. Thank you for everything that you do.” -- Halle Bristow, Ellis Elementary
4. “Our school is so lucky to have Ms. Schroeder as our counselor here at Willow Elementary. She works wonders with all of our students. She has set up a variety of different affinity groups based on student needs and desires including our GSA (LGBTQ awareness and advocacy), Common Ground (students dealing with divorce/ separation) and Coping groups (based on BESS results). She truly cares about everyone here at this school -- student or adult -- and her cheerfulness and optimism bring joy to our school every day! Thanks Misty!” -- Karen Kasner, Willow Elementary
3. "Ms. Thomas is the best counselor! This is her second year at McAuliffe Manual Middle and she has already had a huge impact on our students and the school. The students look up to her and view her as a trusted adult. She also manages our social media, plans the amazing orientations at the beginning of the year, organizes student schedules and more! There is nothing Ms. Thomas can't do. Our students and staff are so lucky to have her! She makes a difference in students' lives every single day." -- McAuliffe Manual Middle School
2.Suzie is new to Northfield High, but is already knocking it out of the park! She has taken lead in Concurrent Enrollment and has hit the ground running on the Northfield High School Counseling Team. She brings valuable experience to our team and is a strong collaborator! She goes above and beyond to make our team cohesive and strong, and is a constant source of joy and comedy! We are so thankful for Suzie!” -- Northfield High School
1.Casey Burton has been at Denver Online since it opened in 2003. He has seen the school go through so many changes and so much growth over the years. I can honestly say that, in the almost nine years that I've worked with him, he has taught me so much about the connection and care that goes into supporting our students at Denver Online. At every graduation, there are kids who literally credit him with getting them across the line. Students show up at our building, both graduates and current students, to just sit and talk with him. He never forgets their faces, names or personal situations. He takes his job seriously and does so with an unmatched level of sensitivity and works relentlessly to support our students. He is also a ‘fan favorite’ on our team as he brings his sense of humor and commitment to his job to every table at which he sits. He cares deeply for our students, our staff and our school. He and I have had so many laughs (and cries) together over the years. I am proud to call him my friend and look forward to working with him for many years to come. Please enjoy the picture we took several years ago when we convinced the reluctant Josten's photographer to take our picture for the yearbook!” -- Denver Online

Living Our DPS Honoree
Nicholas Kresse-Bond
School Counselor, Northfield High School
Students First

"Nick is a shining example of DPS's Shared Core Value of Students First. He consistently goes above and beyond to support individual students, ensuring that they have the resources and support they need to be successful. One example of Nick's dedication to Students First is his work with the GSA club at Northfield. He is one of the sponsors of the club and he works tirelessly to ensure that all students feel like they belong. He is a true advocate for inclusivity and acceptance, and his efforts have made a real difference in the lives of many students.

Another way that Nick demonstrates Students First is through his support of our newly-arrived refugee students. He takes the time to understand their unique needs and provides them with the resources and support they need to thrive. He truly understands the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, and he puts this understanding into action every day.

Nick also supports the master schedule to ensure that classes are arranged so students have access to choice. He is always willing to help students find the right class or extra-curricular activity to ensure that they are able to explore their passions and interests. He consistently goes above and beyond to support individual students, and his efforts have made a real difference in the lives of many students. He is a true advocate for inclusivity and acceptance, and his dedication to Students First is truly admirable."
