Peace to you,
Over the past month, we have enjoyed warm summer weather as well as thunderstorms and rain, sessions with teaching faculty from around the world, days spent down at the lake or hiking up the valley, art and pottery classes, and a very exciting 4th of July celebration including many Holden traditions.
We hope you enjoy these stories and images from the past month at Holden!

THE ARTS
For more than a year, teaching faculty member and woodcarver John Thompson has been crafting this dragon during each visit to the Village. This month, the dragon was installed on the Footbridge. Stop by to spot it next time you’re in the Village!

TRAILS
LOG BRIDGES LIFTED TO LYMAN AND PRINCE CREEK
A heavy lifting helicopter recently flew over the Village to pick up two logs, ready to take them to their final destinations. One was taken to Lyman Lake and the other to Prince Creek. At Lyman Lake, the log will replace the bridge that was beginning to slide off its foundation, and at Prince Creek, the log will replace the bridge that was washed out. The logs swung low below the helicopter as it lifted off and carried them away to support hikers for years to come!

This year, Holden Village has again been filled with the spirit that has carried this place apart for decades. Music, laughter, and community fill the Village, as well as thought-provoking conversations led by renowned teaching faculty from around the world. Thousands of guests come to experience the rhythms of the Village each year. It is our hope that Holden Village may continue as a place for civil conversation, for learning to listen deeply to one another, and for finding hope in a fearful world.
