Happy Khmer New Year

In celebration of Khmer New Year, Cambodians pay respect to their ancestors and it’s a family celebration with most Cambodians going back to their villages to be with loved ones. The CCDO team celebrated as a family with a special lunch in the office and a raffle of prizes to ensure that everyone was blessed with a gift.

Wishing all our fabulous team Happiness, Health, Wealth and Good Luck.

Dental Hygiene Improves Teeth

A huge shoutout to Together We Can Change The World, who continue to support our dental hygiene program in the schools and the community. Our team distributes toothbrushes and toothpaste, but most importantly, they constantly provide community workshops to educate the locals on best dental hygiene. When the occasional toothache or cavity in children occurs, they provide transportation to a dental clinic in Siem Reap. Here are some happy smiles showing off almost perfect teeth. This is a far cry from the many brown decaying teeth that we witnessed only a few years ago.

English Language Teaching Program (ELTP) expands

Sponsored by Child’s Dream Cambodia, CCDO are making inroads in training government teachers how to effectively teach English. The past two years, the program was based in the Sotr Nikom and Anlong Veng districts, where 377 teachers were empowered to teach English and inspire students.

These teachers are ready to bring the English subject to life in the national curriculum at the primary and secondary school level.

The ELTP program moves to the Varin and Svayleu districts where for the next 2 years, Sitha Sok and his team of trainers, will continue to bring new ideas and exciting methodologies to teachers to enhance the learning experience of embracing this foreign language. Sitha has a plethora of new games to help the children learn.

Donors

Leslie & Paul Geller of Florida, visited a well donated in their honor by their travel company, Remote Lands, and they were so touched by the impact that it made to this family that they contacted CCDO and have generously donated another 10 water wells.

Thank you to Remote Lands who besides showing their guests the historical and artistic treasures of Cambodia also introduce them to the lives of rural inhabitants. We are very gratified that their generous guests are willing to help long after they return home.
