ITINs (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) are a powerful tool for undocumented individuals who do not have a SSN. ITINs are issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and are used to file and pay taxes; open a bank account; obtain a home mortgage; generate income via non-employment-based opportunities such as independent contracting, freelancing, and/or starting a business; and more.
