A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO
DECEMBER 16, 2021
A Look Back on our 50th Year
The Autism Society Greater Cincinnati (ASGC) was founded by local parents and professionals in 1971, the first such organization in this area at a time when autism was frequently misunderstood. Over the years, we have shifted and adapted to the changing and growing needs of the autism community and today, 50 years after our founding, we have grown to be the leading resource in Cincinnati for individuals and families living with autism.

When I started with ASGC nearly 4 years ago, I heard many of you ask us to create programming and support that would meet the unique needs of your family. Today we have social programs for all ages, and support groups for adults, parents and caregivers – even disability professionals. In the midst of COVID, we shifted to more frequent, online programs to make sure that we continued our commitment to the autism community to connect and support you. This shift online opened our programs and support groups beyond Cincinnati and also allowed us to connect with families across the country and across the globe.

As we look forward to 2022, we want to continue to bring you the programs and support that you, our community, will find valuable. In 2022, we will launch two new initiatives: an employment training program and a support group for parents and caregivers of individuals with severe autism.

We want to continue to provide you with the support, resources and programs you have come to expect from us, but we cannot do this without your support. I would ask for your consideration in making ASGC a part of your holiday giving this year.

We are so honored to be a part of your autism journey and wish you all a wonderful holiday season. We look forward to serving you in 2022.
