Message from The President
It is hard to believe that summer is already winding down and that we will soon be entering the final quarter of 2026. When I began my term as President, I shared a vision of “Brick by Brick, We’re Building 26.” Throughout the year, I have been proud to watch that vision take shape through the energy, participation, and commitment of our Members, Volunteers, Industry Partners, and Board of Directors.
One of the things that makes IREM DC Chapter 8 special is the many ways our members come together. Whether through education, networking, community action, or simply taking time to connect with colleagues, every opportunity strengthens the relationships that make our chapter successful.
Our August Crab Feast was amazing! We had great turnout, beautiful weather, and, most importantly, plenty of meaty, heavy crabs! Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening such a success. A special thank you to our sponsors for helping make this event possible: American Christmas, Capitol Concierge, Datawatch Systems, Elevator Control Service, Flynn Architectural Finishes, ParkX Management, Platinum, and Solid Surface Care, Inc. It was a wonderful opportunity to step away from the office, reconnect with colleagues, welcome new members, and enjoy one of our chapter’s favorite summer traditions.
As we move into September, I hope you will join us for our Annual Charity Golf Tournament on September 28 to support Special Olympics of DC. The tournament is always a highlight of the IREM calendar, bringing members and industry partners together for a day of fellowship, friendly competition, and giving back. Our commitment to community is one of the things I have been especially proud of throughout this year.
Your Vote Matters: September will also be an important month for the future of IREM DC Chapter 8 as we hold our 2027 Chapter Leadership Elections. See article and link below to vote. It is your duty as a chapter member to vote, and it only takes 2 minutes of your time. The strength of IREM DC depends on members who are willing to participate, volunteer, lead, and help shape the direction of our organization. Your vote is one of the most important ways you can do that.
October Program Spotlight: Who Runs DC? The Rats or Us?
Join us on October 6 at Clyde’s, where we will tackle a topic that may not be the most glamorous lunch conversation, but it is certainly one that property managers across the District cannot afford to ignore: rodent control.
With rodent activity continuing to be a significant concern throughout Washington, DC, our October program will take a practical look at what the District is doing to address the problem and, more importantly, what property managers can do to help protect their buildings, tenants, and communities. Looking Ahead: The final quarter of the year will bring some exciting milestones for IREM DC Chapter 8. On November 10, we will gather at Sequoia Restaurant to install our new 2027 Chapter President and Board of Directors and officially begin the next chapter of leadership for IREM DC.
On November 15-18, Chapter 8 leadership will participate in the IREM Leadership Forum in Chicago, joining leaders from across the international organization to exchange ideas, share best practices, and strengthen our leadership network. We look forward to bringing those insights and connections back to IREM DC Chapter 8 as we continue building for the future.
As we enter the final months of the year, I am grateful for the continued support and engagement of our IREM DC membership. I also want to extend a special thank you to our industry partners who continue to sponsor, support, and show up for our chapter events throughout the year. Your investment in IREM DC makes it possible for us to provide meaningful educational, networking, and community opportunities for our members, and we truly appreciate your partnership.
I hope you will continue to participate, bring a colleague to an event, volunteer your time, and take advantage of the educational and networking opportunities our chapter provides. We have accomplished a great deal together in 2026, and there is still plenty ahead.
