Help Drive Care Forward
Give Before August 31 to Triple Your Impact
| | |
There’s still time to help Community Care keep people connected to healthcare, community, and the people they love.
When Samantha and Holly Burke’s mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, Community Care’s specialized transportation services became a lifeline, helping her get to medical appointments safely, comfortably, and with dignity. Their story is a powerful reminder of just how much every ride can mean.
Every day, our accessible vans travel thousands of kilometres across the City of Kawartha Lakes and beyond, helping people reach cancer treatments, specialist appointments, rehabilitation, community programs, and more.
| | This summer, the Community Care Foundation is raising $50,000 to help fund the accessibility modifications for a new specialized transportation van. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we're just $18,000 away from reaching our goal! | | We’re getting closer, but there’s still work to do. And right now, your donation can have an even greater impact. Thanks to our matching sponsors, Julie Johnson Dentistry and MNP, every donation made before August 31, 2026 will be tripled, up to $5,000 in matching funds. | | |
Help us reach our goal before the matching opportunity ends! Your support helps ensure every ride can be safe, compassionate, and available when it’s needed most.
Read the Burke family’s story, learn more about the campaign, and make your donation today at https://ccckl.ca/summer-campaign/.

We recently welcomed our wonderful volunteers for an afternoon of Bingo & Lemonade as a small way to show our appreciation for everything they do.
The afternoon was filled with laughter, friendly competition, sweet treats, and plenty of lucky bingo winners!
But while there were prizes to be won, we know who the real winners are. Our community is incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers who generously give their time, talents, and compassion to support local seniors and help make our community stronger. We are so grateful for each and every one of them!

World Suicide Awareness Day
September 10
| |
On World Suicide Prevention Day, Hospice Services is bringing our community and partners together for a special memorial service at noon on September 10 at Old Mill Park in Lindsay.
Hospice Services and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) will come together to create space for reflection, connection and remembrance, and to honour those we have lost while supporting those who are grieving.
All are welcome to attend.

We’re grateful to Crayola for generously donating sketchbooks, activity books, colouring tools and more to support our Friendly Visiting kits.
These creative supplies give volunteers and clients new opportunities to spend time together, spark conversations, try an activity and enjoy a shared moment.
Our Friendly Visiting volunteers make a meaningful difference by providing companionship and social connection to local seniors who may benefit from a friendly face and regular visits.
Interested in becoming a Friendly Visiting volunteer? We’d love to welcome you to the team! Visit www.ccckl.ca/volunteer to learn more and apply.

We’re incredibly grateful to share that Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes was recognized in nine categories in the CommunityVotes Kawarthas 2026 awards!
These awards mean so much to us because they come from the community we’re here to serve. They’re a wonderful reflection of the dedication, compassion, and care our staff and volunteers bring to their work every day.
To everyone who took the time to nominate and vote for Community Care, thank you. Your support and recognition mean more than you know!
We’re so proud to be part of this community, and so grateful to be recognized by it.
| | Who Is Your Shining Star? | |
We’re proud to celebrate our recent Shining Star Award recipients: Amber, Zoltan, Nicole, Hollie, and Christine!
These dedicated Personal Support Workers were nominated by grateful clients and families who wanted to recognize the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care they bring to their work.
One client shared that Amber and Christine “treat me like a person, not just a job,” and described how their friendship and care have become such an important part of his days. He even shared a laugh about their friendly competition to dress his porch goose, Gertie, for every holiday and special occasion!
