Calhoun County Judges Named to Statewide Leadership Roles
Calhoun County Circuit Judge John Hallacy has been named to the Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals Board of Directors (MATCP). He is one of 28 Board members who represent and promote treatment courts and services in the Michigan Judicial System. The Board is comprised of judges, substance abuse professionals, administrators, and attorneys involved in Michigan’s treatment courts. Judge Hallacy has been involved with treatment courts since their inception in Calhoun County and currently presides over the county’s Men’s Drug Court program and presided over Sobriety Court when he was in the District Court. For more information on the MATCP, please visit their website at https://www.matcp.org/board-of-directors.html.

Calhoun County Chief Judge Michael L. Jaconette has been appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to serve on the Michigan Judicial Council. Judge Jaconette will serve on the Judicial Council through December 31, 2023 as one of two judges representing the Michigan Probates Judges Association on the Council. The Michigan Judicial system includes 83 counties and nearly 10 million residents. The courts currently operate as a non-unified trial court system and supporting resources vary widely between jurisdictions. The Council was formed in 2021 by the Michigan Supreme Court to create a cohesive plan for Michigan’s judiciary and will serve as a unified entity to create a statewide strategic plan to establish common goals and strategies to implement system-wide improvements.
