CALLING ALL ADVOCATES Many families depend on the enriching afterschool programming provided by Dallas Park and Recreation. As city leaders prepare for next year’s budget, we invite YOU to help ensure students and families continue to have access to these vital programs. Please fill out the brief survey and use questions 1 and 6 to talk about the importance of afterschool programs. Take the 2-minute survey! Here are a few examples: Out-of-School Time (OST) programs provide students with homework support and tutoring, access to STEM enrichment activities, and help them build social skills and resiliency. These programs also help single and working families keep their jobs or work more hours while keeping kids safe, reducing risky behaviors, and providing healthy meals and snacks to children. THIS JUST IN! Gina Warner, President and CEO of the National AfterSchool Association will join Dr. Froswa' Booker-Drew as a featured speaker for our Reimagining Conference.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO Marjorie Murat Where has February gone? As this month has flown by, we have been hard at work preparing "the playground" for our signature fundraising event RECESS! This year's event features an all-star lineup with former Dallas Cowboy Timmy Newsome, former WNBA star Genai Walker, and "referee" Scott Murray. In case you missed it, here is the announcement from My Sweet Charity. Please join me on March 24th for our best RECESS yet! Not only is it an amazingly good time, it raises funds and awareness of our mission so we can do more for students in Dallas. Thank you for your support! Sincerely, WE EMPOWER STUDENTS WITH DIGITAL LEARNING! The virtual and augmented reality support we provide helps students broaden their digital horizons and become more comfortable with different digital platforms. Learn more about the benefits to students and how we are integrating technology in OST in this article written by one of our talented tutors, Ashley Park. Read the Article
