Letter from the President
Dear Alumna,
As I write my final Alumnae Update, my mind and heart are flooded with so many memories: A quarter of a century of student activities and events, fundraisers, school improvements, religious observances, walking the halls of Catholic High, and memories of the school we share. Our students are the core of everything at Catholic High — certainly those currently enrolled and those who came before them...You, Catholic High Alumnae.
Through the years, you have been an inspiring and meaningful presence in the life of Catholic High due to your consistent support and engagement in school initiatives, including attending plays and concerts, participating in the Alumnae Memorial Mass, Wine Tasting, Golf Outing, Annual Gala, and so much more. You established Endowed Scholarships in your family’s name and in honor of your graduating class and consistently supported the Green & Gold Fund. Your generosity was instrumental in funding each of the countless improvements in our beautiful building and on our campus. Your names are forever etched in the Gallery’s Donor Walls and Catholic High archives for your support of our major gift initiatives to fund these improvements: the Clinical Simulation Lab, Student drop-off and Parking lot on the Western Campus, the Production Booth, the Sister Arnoldine O’Connell, OSF Dining Hall, just to name a few.
Catholic High will continue its enduring positive impact in Greater Baltimore and beyond because of you and your belief in the school you attended for four short years that left you with a lifetime of memories. I often tell students, "You will leave Catholic High, but Catholic High will never leave you." These words resonate with me as my time at the school comes to an end once again.
I am honored and forever grateful for the countless opportunities I have had during these 25 years to work with Catholic High’s amazing faculty and staff and to know the remarkable classes of young women who have walked the halls during my tenure. I am also honored and grateful to have known you and to thank you for your consistent generosity. The school we love will continue to prosper and grow with your committed support and engagement in the coming years. I ask God to bless you each day for all that you have done and will continue to do in Catholic High’s good name.
As I leave as President, I will forever remain a proud Daughter of Catholic High!

Shining in the Arts
This month's edition of From the Archives features Catholic High women posing for a photo next to two of Eileen Asplen's '58 oil paintings during the 1956-1957 school year. Barbara Amrein '57, Nancy Pistorio '57, Catherine Plack '57, and Marie Fioroli '57 all qualified for shows at the annual Art Exhibit that took place on May 4 and 5 that year.
For the past several years, Catholic High's Art Department has hosted the Juried and Senior Art Shows in May to showcase our talented artists that create in a variety of mediums!

Designing the Future While Preserving the Past
Abigail Burthe has been quite busy in her studies since graduating from Catholic High in 2021! Last year, she graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Architecture and a minor in Museum Studies. She has held two internships in recent years, the first at Arlington National Cemetery as an Architectural Conservation Intern where she worked to preserve monuments such as the Tomb of the Unknown Solider and the memorial wall at the grave of RFK Sr. Abigail's second internship was in conservation at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Abigail is now continuing her education in a dual degree MastersProgram at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana! Tulane's School of Architecture and the Built Environment (TuSABE) will allow her to obtain a specialized degree where she will earn a Master of Science in Historic Preservation (MSHP) in addition to a Master of Architecture (M.Arch). The four-year program will lead her to potential accreditation as a licensed architect upon graduating. Abigail is excited to be a part of the MSHP Program due to the school's location in New Orleans which holds a rich cultural background. With this type of degree, she will gain knowledge in policy, research, documentation, understanding historic trades, and meeting government standards for the treatment of historic sites.
When asked what Abigail aspires to do after completing the dual program, she shares "I can see myself going two different ways. I would love to work as an architect for the National Park Service, overseeing the preservation of historic sites across the country. I can also see myself as a consultant for an architecture firm that specializes in adaptive reuse, keeping the integrity of existing buildings, while also giving them a new life. Only time will tell!"
Way to go, Abigail! We know you will do amazing things in your career!

| | | The Alumnae Giving Project | |
During the month of May, we received a card from the retired Sisters at Stella Maris that read, "A very special Thank You with sincere appreciation. We enjoyed your very generous Easter treats! We thank God for all our faithful friends at Catholic High. You are remembered in our prayers."
The Giving Project was able to make a donation of 70 pairs of pajamas to the Casey Cares Foundation at the end of April. They are a non-profit that works with families to provide ongoing and uplifting programs for critically ill children. Their aim is to lessen the stress on families and make a difference in their lives.

Honoring Mary
May 5 was a beautiful day to honor the Blessed Mother at our beloved Catholic High tradition, May Crowning! Dr. Nazelrod '68 and Mrs. Stitz '90 both delivered wonderful remarks reminding us of the importance of Mary. It was also the first time we witnessed the Class of 2026 in their white caps and gowns!
Miss Catholic High, Luisa Martinez Beltran '26, proudly crowned Mary in front of the school community and on the lawn overlooking Edison Highway. Alongside Luisa was her court of Miss Junior, Gail Louise Bernabe, Miss Sophomore, Clarice Bialek, and Miss Freshman, Njeeri Muturi.

Stepping Boldly Into The Future
Tuesday, May 26 was a beautiful day to celebrate the incredible Class of 2026 at the Baccalaureate Liturgy and Commencement Exercises at The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen! So many emotions filled the Cathedral as we recognized the accomplishments of our young women, who now join more than 13,000 alumnae in Catholic High's 87-year history. We are extremely proud of our 76 graduates, who earned more than $17 million in college scholarships, grants, and awards to prestigious colleges and universities!
It has been amazing to watch the members of the Class of 2026 grow academically, spiritually, and in their extracurricular activities while sharing their many talents with our school community. We can't wait to see how they let their light shine in college and beyond. As their Class Song states, "Today is where you book begins, the rest is still unwritten!" Viva, Catholic High!
