COULD YOU HELP?

As the season begins to wrap up, we are endlessly thankful to all the volunteers who made Summer 2025 at SLYC possible. Heading into the fall, we will need help to prepare the club for winter. We are also looking for some capable individuals to shadow the Dinner Dance team next summer and to take over planning the event in 2027. A number of SLYC board positions will become available at the end of next summer. Could you help? If you are able to lend a hand, we would love to hear from you! Please reach out to any current board member, or send us an email at slycinfo@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!!

RACQUETS UPDATE

PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT
With over 80 registrants and sunny skies, the SLYC annual pickleball tournament was a picklers' dream last weekend. Sandy and Ken Robinson organized players into pools, resulting in a lot of matches. The courts were hot with supreme smashes, devilish dinking, and fast paced volleys. Thanks to all the spectators who cheered the teams on, and congrats to the winners!

RACQUETS SEASON WRAP UP AND THANKS

With another fantastic year of racquets wrapped up, we’d like thank all people who made it a success:
Head Pro Claudia Voicu, who managed and trained our 15 staff members, redesigned the entire tennis programming schedule over two years, fostered our novice players and girls’ groups, oversaw all the tournaments and special events, introduced kids racquets camps and shepherded racquets operations to a new level. Thank you for your two years of dedication to the SLYC!
Assistant Head Pros George Zimmerman, Chloe Paradine, and Malcolm Charlton-Parker who led scheduling, court maintenance, volunteer organization, and camp coordination. And Isabela Dorado-Smith, our dedicated Racquets Operations Administrator, who greeted every member with a smile.
Our enthusiastic and hardworking staff: Daniel De Almeida, Addison Hubbs, George Durno, Freddie Brooks-Hill, Johnny Bart, Beckett MacDonald, and Ian van Dorsser, plus our volunteers Elora Colbert, Jasper Craig, Esmé Kimsa, and Alex O’Dwyer (and our staff mascot, Oscar)!

Our volunteer sub-committees who injected extra fun into the season:
PICKLEBALL: Sandy & Ken Robinson
STONY SLAM: Heather Anderson, Kara Davis, Carys Quennec
WOMEN'S NIGHTS: Jennifer Elliott & Jennifer Rishor
MEN'S DRILLS: Andrew Rush
SLYC/ASLC KIDS CAMPS: Candace Jentz

We’d also like to thank Emily Vail for creating this year’s beautiful pottery which served as our adult trophies.
It was our great pleasure to have had the opportunity to build up the SLYC racquets program. We have loved seeing so many new players pick up tennis and pickleball racquets and share in the love of competition. Collaborating with our wonderful staff and spending two years on the courts with our community has been a joy. We wish you a wonderful year!
