Brush Chamber Orchestra Gets a Masterclass
This week, the Brush High School Chamber Orchestra welcomed professional musicians into their classroom for a performance and masterclass session.
Through a sponsorship from the Ohio Arts Council, Daniel Pereira (Cleveland Institute of Music) and Laura Silverman joined the Chamber Orchestra for their first period class. The two played two pieces - Cello Sonata in C Major (Jean-Baptiste Breval) and Danse Rustique (William Henry Squire) - before diving into an inspiring session with the students.
Pereira shared that his passion for music began in Caracas, where he studied music throughout school. He encouraged the students to find their own passion in their craft, to commit to their talent, work together as an ensemble, and lead their listener into a journey with each piece.
He was able to demonstrate to the students how small, targeted adjustments could have big impact on the piece.
The students were exceptional participants during this masterclass and demonstrated true Arc pride!

Kindergarten Registration is Now OPEN!
Welcome Class of 2039! Registration for kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year is now available! Families can visit selschools.org/kindergarten to get information about kindergarten, watch a helpful Kindergarten 101 video from our K-3 principals, and find the enrollment link when you're ready to start the process!
As a reminder, a new Ohio law requires students to turn five years old on or before the first day of school to be eligible for kindergarten, which is August 24 for the 2026-2027 school year.
Early Enrollment is Key!
Early enrollment helps the district plan for classroom placement and staffing, and ensures families receive important communications from the district and school.
Plan to Attend the Kindergarten Welcome Event!
Join us for our first ever Kindergarten Welcome Day on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Greenview Upper Elementary. This districtwide, open-house style event is a great way to get to know the district, meet your new principal, get to know your PTA, receive a few fun giveaways, and more! Even veteran SEL families will enjoy the fun!
Let us know you're coming to this welcome event by using the RSVP form! Registration is appreciated for planning purposes.

Announcing the Brush Centennial Logo
After over 800 votes from students, staff, community members, and alumni, the district is proud to reveal the official logo for the Charles F. Brush centennial celebration! The logo was created by Brush High School sophomore Cyan Evans in Mr. Bellet’s design class.
It was difficult to narrow down the student submissions to five finalists, and the vote was close! Brush students brought their best to this project! Cyan will win a prize for creating the winning artwork.
Keep an eye out for Brush Centennial activities, celebrations, and recognitions all throughout the coming year, and visit selschools.org/brush100 regularly so you don’t miss any of the special celebrations.

The South Euclid-Lyndhurst community is invited to attend the SEL Career Fair on Wednesday, March 18, from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Brush High School media center.
This event is a great way for adults in our community to meet with a wide range of employers—including companies like Swagelok, Assured Partners, and many others—who are actively looking for talent. In addition to meeting employers, attendees can take advantage of:
-
Free Professional Headshots: Available on-site for your LinkedIn or portfolio.
-
Resume Review Services: Get expert feedback on your resume.
-
Local Networking: Connect with representatives from the City of South Euclid and the City of Lyndhurst.
We hope to see our SEL families taking advantage of these professional resources!

SRO Safety Lessons & Say Something Week
From March 2-16, School Resource Officers (SROs) will be delivering age-appropriate safety lessons to all Grade 3 students. These lessons support the district’s ongoing commitment to student safety and align with the requirements of HB 123 & SB 288.
These lessons also connect with the national Say Something Week initiative through Sandy Hook Promise, taking place March 16-20. Say Something Week focuses on the importance of recognizing warning signs, speaking up when concerned, and supporting one another in keeping schools safe.
Each building will engage in age-appropriate awareness activities. Families will receive additional information directly from their child’s school.

Student Services Reminder
The district’s Student Services team offers a wide range of supports designed to help students and families thrive both in and out of the classroom. Programs and staff are available for counseling support and wrap-around services, prevention and intervention services, mentoring, and access to community partners and resources. These services reflect the district’s commitment to the whole child and provide resources that help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
If your student or family is in need of support, please visit the Student Services webpage for more information on how to contact the team. Additionally, if you have not already done so, please review the district’s policy regarding Ohio HB 8: Parents’ Bill of Rights and review the district’s Annual Notice. Completing this form allows the Student Services team to provide your child with support and care throughout the academic year.

Become a 2026-27 PTA Reflections Ambassador
Our school is excited to participate in the PTA Reflections Program, a nationwide arts program that encourages students to explore their creativity and express their ideas through art. Each year, students create original works based on a theme in categories such as visual arts, photography, music composition, dance choreography, literature, film production, and accessible arts.
We are looking for Reflections Ambassadors to help support and promote the program in our school community. Ambassadors will help share information with families, encourage student participation, and help get students excited about showcasing their artistic talents.
Volunteering as an Ambassador is a great way to support the arts, connect with our school community, and help students gain confidence through creativity. The time commitment is flexible and may include helping share information, offering ideas to increase participation, and attending a few planning meetings.
If you are interested in becoming a Reflections Ambassador for the 26-27 school year or would like to learn more, please contact the PTA Council at selptacouncil11@gmail.com.
Together, we can help inspire creativity and celebrate the amazing talents of our students!
