December 2025 Newsletter

Hello and I hope you are well! First, I'd like to give a big welcome to my neighbors here in TN that I met at the Artisan Market a few weeks ago :)

How on earth are we in December already - again? I don't know if you are feeling the same, but time certainly did fly by this year and, honestly, I don't like it. The holidays are upon us once again and I would like to thank you for all the love you showed me around Small Business Saturday. I got behind in getting your orders filled and shipped, but getting back on track to make sure that your upcoming gift orders get out quickly. Regarding this, it is recommended that any orders that need to be received before Christmas be placed no later than Tuesday 12/16. The earlier the better, as USPS deliveries do tend to take a little longer due to volume at this time of year.

Holiday teas are in and so are the holiday samplers and mug gift sets! My autumn teas also make lovely options for the holidays and upcoming winter season. See below for the list of your returning favorites. All and more can be found in the online shop at https://www.pleasuresoftea.com and shipping is nationwide.

If you will be purchasing gifts to be shipped directly to the recipient, you have the option to include a personalized message on the packing slip. Include your message in the Comments section in the Cart and I will be sure to include it in the order! I also offer e-gift certificates, so please see below for details on how to purchase one. And my annual holiday raffle is back, so see below and be sure to enter! :)

This month we continue our journey through the tea-producing provinces of China. In September we "visited" the Yunnan Province, Fujian was in October, and last month we "traveled" to Hunan. If you missed any of these newsletters, you can view them here (scroll to the bottom). This month we will be exploring the production of teas from the Sichuan and Guizhou Provinces and we'll continue our journey next month in a few more!

My shipping deadlines and schedule will be suspended over the next two weeks in order to ensure your orders get where they need to go before Christmas. It will return later this month. As a reminder, orders are shipped on Mondays and Thursdays and deadlines are Saturdays and Tuesdays at 5:00PM EST, respectively. If the orders are not picked up by my postal carrier on either of these days, then they will ship the next day. As always, I fill and ship orders as quickly as I can. Even though there is a schedule, if I am able to fill an order that comes in past the deadline then I will. There is a pick-up option that I handle manually for my TN neighbors, so don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!

As always, I appreciate your continued support of my small business!! Wishing you and your family a beautiful holiday season :)

You will still need to input your credit card, but only the balance will be charged, if there is one. Gift certificates never expire - I put an expiration date on them because I want them to be used, not forgotten in a pile of paper ;).

Teas of Sichuan & Guizhou

For the past few months, we've been "traveling" through the tea-producing provinces of China. It is truly amazing to experience the vast types and styles of tea from just one country! So far we have explored the major producers of Yunnan, Fujian, and Hunan Provinces. This month we are going to explore two provinces - Sichuan and Guizhou.

Sichuan is a land-locked province located in central China, just north of Yunnan. It has a long agricultural tradition and is one of the ancient producers of tea. In fact, this province is believed to be the origination of tea culture in daily life. The province is surrounded by mountains in the west, east, and south. Within its borders, the southern part of the province is dominated by hills and valleys, while the northern part is mostly low-altitude plains. Many of the mountains and hills are covered with clouds and mist, yielding the rarest of all Chinese green teas - Yun Wu or Cloud Mist teas. The natural shading from the clouds creates a unique chemistry within the leaf, resulting in a tea that is high in caffeine and the amino acid L-theanine. The province has a humid, subtropical climate. Sichuan is a major producer of green teas, but it also produces some black and dark teas. A famous region within Sichuan Province is Mount Mengding, which is located in the central part the province, and is the origination of Mengding Huang Ya Yellow Tea. The teas from Sichuan are fabulous, but they are not found in large quantities outside of China. I offer the High Mountain Green Tea that arrived a few months ago, along with the Mengding Huang Ya Yellow Tea. Years ago I offered a lovely black tea from Sichuan, but have not been able to source it once that source disappeared. I'm always on the hunt for a new source of quality Sichuan teas to add to the menu.

The next province we are "visiting" this month is Guizhou. It is another landlocked region and is sandwiched between Yunnan to the west, Hunan to the east, and a small border with Sichuan in the northwest. Lands designated for tea production are quite extensive and the terroir is unique in that most of the tea is grown on plateaus at elevations between 3,000-4,500 feet. It benefits from a subtropical climate with long, warm and humid summers and mild winters. Organic farming practices are predominantly used, although the teas are not certified organic. As with Sichuan, it is a major producer of tea; however, their tea is rarely found here in the US. They predominantly produce green tea, but expansion into white, wulong and black teas has been increasing in recent years. I offer a lovely Guizhou White Tea that arrived a few months ago. And, as with Sichuan, I will be on the lookout for more sources of these teas to add to the menu.

I offer a very small selection of high quality teas from the Sichuan and Guizhou Provinces of China. They are available in the online shop https://www.pleasuresoftea.com. To easily find them, type Sichuan or Guizhou in the search box. Each tea will have a description about where and how the tea is grown, cultivar information and/or aromatic and taste profiles. Enjoy your "travels" to these two provinces and feel free to share your experience! :)
