September, 2026

Some of you have been with me since the inception of this newsletter (one year ago!) and some of you just signed up (thank you for signing on to the Family Care Act support letter!). Regardless of how or when you found this newsletter, I am glad to have you here. The goal is to educate, motivate, and provide tangible action items.

For the next two months the message is going to be simple - get out to vote, and make sure everyone you know votes, too. While cliche to say, this election MATTERS, and voting is how we ensure our voice is heard. If you have any questions, want to chat about the issues, or want to discuss how you can get involved, just reply to this email!

Yours in action,

Blake

Updates below include:

  • Election Resources
  • Gender Equity Advocacy Group
  • Title X
  • Medical access for LGBTQ+
  • 2030 Census Update
  • Witches Night Out!

Our "Every Voice / Cada Voz Project has been focused on reaching people where they are - a key component to engaging individuals who have never voted or have not voted recently. We have partnered with organizations around Chester County, including KACS, The Garage Youth and Community Center, Alianzas, and Chester County OIC to provide nonpartisan information to program participants and their families. At just one event we registered 5 new voters! They will be the first in their families to vote. This work is possible due to the incedible partnerships we have, because reaching the community requires community.

IMPORTANT ELECTION DATES!

  • October 19: Voter registration deadline
  • October 27 at 5:00 pm: Deadline to request a mail-in ballot
  • November 3 at 8:00 pm: Deadline for your county election office to receive your completed mail-in ballot
  • November 3: Election Day; polls open 7am-8pm

What to know:

In June, the federal administration proposed eliminating Title X funding - funding that supports reproductive and family planning education. Then they quietly released guidance for organizations planning to apply for funding in January 2027. That guidance included the update that applicants cannot include education about birth control, LGBTQ+ issues, or anything related to DEI. To read an article about this issue, CLICK HERE. Education is key to gender equity - and ignoring important information is harmful to young women+.

What to know:

September 10th proposed changes to what data will be collected for the 2030 Census were leaked - a proposal that would have significant and very negative effects if enacted.

The two major changes would be:

  1. Race and ethnicity will not be measured
  2. Immigrants, undocumented and some documented, will not be counted

This impacts:

  • Funding to states
  • Congressional apportionment (how many people each congressperson represents)
  • Health data
  • and more

What can you do?

You can leave a comment on the government's page about why you think all people in the U.S. need to be counted, and why race and ethnicity matter. Comments can be left HERE.
