AAHOA Applauds Senate Committee Passage of Hotel Fees Transparency Act | |
|
Last week, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation passed the Hotel Fees Transparency Act. The legislation requires hotels and short-term rentals to disclose the total cost of booking, including all fees, to customers upfront. AAHOA and its members have long advocated for price transparency and fairness.
“Transparency is key to building guest trust and ensuring a level playing field across the lodging industry,” AAHOA Chairman Miraj S. Patel said.

U.S. RevPAR -2.7% y/y last week; Negative impact from shift of Super Bowl to New Orleans from Vegas.
As Truist Securities wrote, “Overall U.S. RevPAR was -2.7% y/y for the week ending 2/8/2025, per STR/CoStar, below the prior week's result of +4.1% y/y and below the trailing 10-week average of +5.1% y/y. Last week's lodging results were negatively impacted at the headline from the location shift of the Super Bowl to New Orleans from Las Vegas. Las Vegas being a larger market (# of rooms) was a factor, in our view—although New Orleans absolute RevPAR for the week at $360 was higher than Vegas last year ($312). Independent hotel RevPAR (which includes Vegas casinos) was -12% y/y. Las Vegas RevPAR was -63%; New Orleans was +135%. Upscale RevPAR: -0.5% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: -0.3% y/y.”
