Community Leaders Visit Food Bank, Pledge Support

During a recent food bank distribution, we were honored to welcome April Messenger, field representative from Rep. Emily Randall’s office, along with Ocean Shores Mayor Frank Elduen and City Administrator Scott Andersen. Joined by members of our board of directors, they toured the food bank and spent time with both volunteers and guests.

We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of our elected leaders, especially in these challenging times. With their partnership—and yours—we can continue working to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.

At this year’s Winter Fanta‑Sea Craft Fair at the Ocean Shores Convention Center, a former guest of the food bank stopped by our booth. With tears in her eyes, she shared her story:

“You helped my family when we had nothing to eat. We don’t have a lot now, but every time I see one of your donation jars, I put in what I can. I have never forgotten the food bank’s generosity and kindness.”

Her words moved us deeply. She insisted on making a donation, a gesture of gratitude that spoke volumes about the impact of community support. With tears in her own eyes, our volunteer told her, “We are always here when you need us.” She smiled, wished us a Merry Christmas, and walked away knowing she remains part of the Ocean Shores Food Bank family.

This moment is a reminder of what your generosity makes possible. Every gift—large or small—helps ensure that no one in our community goes hungry, and that dignity and kindness are always within reach.

A Season of Generosity

Ocean Shores has been overflowing with generosity toward the food bank this December. Neighbors have rallied, businesses have hosted food drives (you’ll find donation barrels in businesses throughout town), and creativity has flourished. Out and About in Ocean Shores brought joy with a pet food drive, while Fusions Art Gallery’s first annual silent auction raised $2,900 to help restock our shelves.

Thanks to you, our Thanksgiving distribution served 422 households—families who sat down to a holiday meal with dignity and hope. We are profoundly grateful for all you have done.

Yet the work continues. Visits to the food bank are rising, and we anticipate even greater need in the months ahead. Your donations, your time, and your steadfast support are making a real difference in the lives of local individuals and families.

As the new year approaches, challenges will grow. But together, we can meet the need. Whether you donate, volunteer, or spread the word, your support keeps hope alive in Ocean Shores.

With your continued help, we can ensure every family enters 2026 with food on the table and community in their hearts.
