Greetings, Parents, and Families of Steubenville High School,
The past four weeks have brought another exciting and productive stretch at Steubenville High School filled with accomplishments, opportunities, and reasons to celebrate both inside and outside the classroom. Our fall athletic programs have enjoyed tremendous success, highlighted by our football team earning the top seed in Region 11! After securing a first-round bye, Big Red will begin its playoff journey at home this Friday night. Meanwhile, the transition to winter athletics is already underway, bringing a new season of opportunities for our student-athletes to compete, grow, and represent our school and community with pride. There is certainly no shortage of excitement at SHS!
I know we say it every year, but it truly is remarkable how quickly time passes! It seems like yesterday we were welcoming students back for the start of the
school year, and here we are, rapidly approaching the midpoint of the 2nd grading period. With that in mind, now is an especially important time for our students to refocus, buckle down, and as I often remind them, “put in work!” Academic success is rarely accidental. Rather, it is the product of consistent effort, personal responsibility, perseverance, and a willingness to embrace challenges.
As always, I encourage our parents and families to remain actively engaged in their children’s educational journeys. Ask questions, monitor progress, celebrate accomplishments, and reinforce the importance of taking ownership of their learning. The partnership between home and school remains one of the most important ingredients in helping young people reach their fullest potential.
As we near the holiday season, a time that can be simultaneously exciting, busy, and occasionally stressful, I encourage everyone to reflect on the many blessings in our lives. Be grateful for what you have. Extend kindness and compassion whenever possible. Help others when you can, where you can, and always strive to assume the best intentions of those around you. In a world too often characterized by uncertainty, division, and unnecessary noise, there is tremendous value in focusing our energy on the thing we are able to control: our attitudes, our actions, our interactions, and the way we treat one another.
At Steubenville High School, we frequently speak about Big Red Pride and how it is demonstrated through our words, actions, and interactions. The holiday season provides a wonderful opportunity to put those values into practice, not simply within the walls of our school, but throughout our homes, neighborhoods, and community. A little gratitude, a little patience, and a little kindness can make an extraordinary difference. There is much to be thankful for, and I believe that’s a message we can all embrace!
Finally, thank you for your continued trust, encouragement, and support of Steubenville High School. I remain incredibly proud to serve this outstanding school and the Steubenville community. It is a privilege to work alongside our dedicated teachers, supportive families, and the remarkable young people who continue to make our tradition-rich school such a special place.
I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming athletic contests, musical performances, and other school activities. Your presence and support are an essential component to the unique culture that defines Steubenville Big Red.
Please take a few moments to review the calendar of important dates included in this newsletter.
Wishing you and your families a wonderful November and a happy, healthy and meaningful Thanksgiving holiday!
And, as always, Roll Red!
