Greetings Fresh Food Fans,
The first tomatoes of the season will be available this week! Sun Golds are a great gateway tomato for kids, or adults, who haven't quite warmed up to this veggie-fruit hybrid. Their sweet-tangy-tropical taste, bite-size, and vibrant orange color will make a tomato lover out of anyone. Seriously. Just try one!
And if the Sun Golds aren't enough to bring you to the market on what looks to be a hot day, don't forget about the strawberries. This is peak season and you'll be so glad you stalked up when the weekend hits and you're the hero who planned ahead with a fridge full of Sun Golds and strawberries.
Yeah, Thursday is gonna be a a hot one. We'll have a large thermos filled with ice water at the info booth, and the shade of the pavilion and a predictable light breeze should keep things reasonably comfortable.
Speaking of beating the heat, the second shift of the shave ice season begins this week. Please welcome back Renee, owner of Snowology 207! She'll be parked and ready to serve you sweet frozen treats.
Finally, I want to remind you of the high quality craft vendors we have in our mix. I know it's the local food that brings you to the market, but we're also lucky to have some of the finest artisans in Maine. Please be sure to visit Artascope for pottery and jewelry, Redmond Philbert Handworks for brooms and The Cultivated Thread for beautiful, woven home goods. Tuck your treasures away for later. You'll be SO glad you made the purchases.
See ya Thursday 3-6.
Amy
