Laugh & Learn

Our Laugh & Learn programs in Durham, Freeport and Pownal have enjoyed a great start to the spring and soaked in as much extra time to play outside as they can! We enjoy celebrating seasonal changes, making observations of their “signs” and having conversations with children about what these seasonal changes bring to each of them, and our community. We look forward to enjoying warmer weather this spring!

Our Laugh & Learn team works hard to prepare an inclusive, educational and fun environment for children throughout the school year; we hope to grow and become even more involved in our school and local communities. Throughout the month of May, our Preschoolers ventured to a new continent - Africa! While focusing on Ghana, students learned about natural resources such as gold and cacao, predatory animals and their sounds, the Baobab "Tree of Life" and drums. We were grateful for a parent visitor who came to teach us about their experience living and working in Ghana! Toward the end of May Preschoolers reviewed our map and crossed the Atlantic Ocean from Africa, to stamp their classroom passports in and begin their learning about Cuba. The tropical climate and letter of the week “X” lined up perfectly to learn about Pirates! Preschoolers made their own parrot companions, played in their own pirate ship, followed a treasure map and learned about animals and exports of Cuba.
