What's Working

CMSD School Counselors Receive Mental Health Training

In partnership with Diana M. Patel, PhD, Project Coordinator at the Center for Public Policy and Health, and Cleveland Metropolitan School District, A.I.D. Training was delivered to school counselors. This 90-minute, evidence-based training equips participants with practical tools to support individuals experiencing mental distress through three key steps:

Awareness – Recognizing signs and symptoms of distress

Interaction – Effectively engaging with someone in distress

Direction – Connecting individuals to the resources they need

This initiative was a part of the Youth Mental & Behavioral Health SWOT Team efforts, led by Director Crystal Reed.Through partnerships like this, Greater Cleveland Works continues to strengthen the behavioral health workforce and ensure individuals on the front lines are equipped to make a meaningful difference.

News You Can Use

SNAP and Medicaid Updates

We have used this space in the past to share information about the many changes happening in the administration of SNAP and Medicaid benefits, since these changes often impact our customers and our community broadly. Greater Cleveland Works Board Member Shana Marbury White of Cuyahoga Community College and Greater Cleveland Works CEO Michelle Rose co-chair County Executive Chris Ronayne's Work Activities and Career Enhancement Committee. The Center for Community Solutions and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank are actively involved in advocacy around Ohio HB 795. Through these two organizations, we have been monitoring this legislation and its potential impact on our county. If you'd like to learn more or get involved, please reach out to Michelle (michelle.rose@greaterclevelandworks.org).
