We're Live!

We are happy to announce our Parish Profile and Vocation Hub have both been

approved by Canon Beth, Bishop Susan, and our Vestry. As of Oct. 22, 2026, we have

published our position for a new rector on the national Vocational Hub, Episcopal News Service website, our church website, and social media, as well as diocesan social media! We will keep you updated on our progress and ask for your continued prayers for the Holy Spirit’s presence in all we do in these weeks to come.

Please pray for the Calling Committee and for our parish:

Heavenly God, who is always present in our lives, grant us courage,

discernment and wisdom to discover our congregation's ministries and needs. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, help us choose a rector who will pastor, preach and teach us in the ways of your son, Jesus Christ our Savior.

We ask this in the name of the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

ACROSS THE CHURCH

Listening, Prayer and Discernment Shaped EDSD’s Next Strategic Plan

By: Chris Tumilty, Director of Communications

What do we hope the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego will look like five years from now? How might our congregations grow, our communities become stronger, and our neighbors experience God's love through the work of the Church?

These are big questions. And answering them requires more than good ideas. It takes listening, prayer, reflection, and the courage to imagine what God is calling us to become.

Over the past year, a Strategic Planning Team composed of lay and clergy members from across the diocese has been doing just that. Read More

A Mural Toward New Community Vision

By: Amy Reams, St. Luke’s North Park

St. Luke’s has a new look- a mural of six Black saints on the front sidewalk of our church by artist Hue Love. It’s a hopeful offering of six of the stories of faith that are meaningful to us at St. Luke’s, intended to spark helpful conversation amongst our neighbors and realign the church as a place of inclusion and empowerment. Already, we’ve gotten peeks into the transformation that is happening in our neighborhood. A few weeks ago, my daughter and I overheard a young African American man as he looked at our mural, saying aloud to his friends, “Wow, my perspective just broadened.”

St Luke’s has long been a church of Black saints, even before our work of intentionally engaging with them. That effort began a few years ago, when it became clear that our children needed to hear more stories of faith about people who looked like them, and, in doing so, learn about the particular saints who left a legacy of ongoing devotion in the adults of our community. Online Prayer Service for Our Nation’s Elections

Monday, November 2, at 6:00 p.m.

On the night before the midterm elections, join Bishop Susan Brown Snook and Episcopalians from across the Diocese of San Diego for an online service of prayer. Together, we will place our communities, our nation, and one another in God’s care, praying for wisdom, peace, compassion, and the well-being of all people. In a season that can bring uncertainty and division, this service offers space to turn our hearts toward God and remember the hope and unity we share in Jesus. All are welcome to join us online at 6 p.m. on November 2.

Resources to Prepare for El Niño

El Niño conditions can bring periods of heavy rain, flooding, mudslides, power outages, and travel disruptions across Southern California and Arizona. Congregations and households can prepare now by clearing gutters and drainage areas, checking roofs and trees, reviewing emergency plans, protecting important records, and making sure basic emergency supplies are ready. Click the link below for practical suggestions from the EDSD Property Committee.

On This Hangs All the Law --

Proper 25a with Faith to Go

This week on Faith to Go, Charlette and David explore Jesus’ answer to a question about the greatest commandment: love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Together, they reflect on how these commandments belong together and what they ask of us in everyday life. What changes when love becomes more than a feeling and begins to shape the way we see God, ourselves, and the people around us?

Reporting Misconduct

The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego considers the reporting and investigation of misconduct to be of critical importance. Reporting enables the diocese to protect the complainant, the respondent, and the larger community. It also allows the diocese to assist with the spiritual, psychological, and emotional needs of all concerned during and after the report of misconduct.
