STAFF SPEAKING
Here is a note from the Carbon Program Intern, Leon Kennedy:
"I admire Prince George's bicycle lanes, walking paths and transit services, including bicycle-carriers, for supporting low-carbon local travel. To support similar improvements I will assist businesses to reduce their carbon footprints. Carbon reductions include reducing fossil fuel combustion and waste disposal. Participating businesses will gain positive recognition for addressing global climate change."

BEA WINNER PROFILE
SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARD - SPEEDEE YOUR OFFICE EXPERTS LTD.
We took a moment to chat with David George, President of SpeeDee - Your Office Experts Ltd., about their Business Excellence Awards win last year in the area of Service Excellence.
How did it feel to find out you won a BEA award and to walk across the stage at the gala event?
I was happy to receive the award as it showed, after being in business since 1958, our service and sales culture is still in tune with what our customers want.
In what ways has winning the award affected the work you do? Did winning leave an impression or make an impact somehow?
The award was really appreciated by our staff. Service is such a team thing. We talk about it all the time and work on processes. There has to be total buy-in among the sales team, purchasers, warehouse and shipping staff, and drivers. Our staff was 'high fiving' each other after the win.
As a successful business person, do you have any advice you'd like to share with others striving for excellence?
I guess my advice would be that, when I have ever failed at something it is because of lack of focus. And also, never stop learning from your staff, customers and peers.
