Expanding the Professional Training Series: Home Visitor Module

On July 17, Cribs for Kids launched the Professional Training Series with the release of the Child Welfare Module, introduced during the “Your Visit Can Save a Life: Safe Sleep and Child Welfare” webinar with Dr. Rachel Berger. Building on that momentum, the next installment of the series, the Home Visitor Module, is now available on our website.

Inspired by the Child Welfare Module, this new training broadens its focus to include social workers, nurses, lactation counselors, early intervention specialists, and others who regularly enter the homes of infants. These professionals are uniquely positioned to observe sleep environments firsthand, reinforce safe sleep practices, and reduce the risk of sleep-related infant deaths. With home visiting recognized as an effective model for improving family outcomes, this training equips professionals with the knowledge and tools to support a wide and diverse population of families.

While both modules provide a framework for guiding home visits, the Child Welfare Module focuses specifically on infants at higher risk of SUID, including those impacted by substance exposure. Home visitors who work primarily with families facing these challenges are encouraged to take the Child Welfare training as well.

The Professional Training Series will continue to expand, with the Childcare Module arriving in October. Please share the Home Visitor Module with professionals in your network who serve families with young infants, and help us spread safe sleep education even further.

Join Us for the Fall Safe Sleep Champions Webinar

On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 12 to 1 PM ET, Cribs for Kids will kick off Infant Safe Sleep Awareness Month with our Fall Safe Sleep Champions Webinar. This special session will focus on the launch of our new Safe Sleep Storytime campaign, a month-long initiative designed to raise awareness and prevent sleep-related infant deaths by sharing powerful, personal stories.

During the webinar, Social Media Manager Kelly James will share the development and goals of the campaign. Participants will also hear directly from families who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child to unsafe sleep. Their stories illustrate why safe sleep practices are critical, and why sharing experiences can inspire others to protect their babies. The webinar will also highlight the continued growth of our Professional Training Series, including the addition of new Home Visitor and Childcare Professional modules alongside the original Child Welfare training. Cribs for Kids at Babies & Bumps This September

Cribs for Kids is excited to join Babies & Bumps this September for two special events designed to support expecting and new parents as they prepare for pregnancy, birth, and life with a baby.

On Sunday, September 21, we’ll be in Cincinnati at the Marriott North, and on Sunday, September 28, we’ll be in Cleveland at the Marriott East. Both events run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and feature expert presentations, interactive sessions, and a wide range of resources for new and expecting parents. These gatherings offer families the chance to learn, connect, and gain the tools they need to navigate the earliest stages of parenthood.

At each event, Cribs for Kids will be there to share the message of safe sleep. Our team will provide education on how to create a safe sleep environment and introduce families to trusted products that can help keep babies safe. These conversations are at the heart of our mission, ensuring that every parent leaves equipped with life-saving knowledge they can put into practice immediately.

If you are in the Cincinnati or Cleveland area, we invite you to attend and visit our table. Stop by to learn more about safe sleep practices and connect with our team. Together, we can spread the word that every baby deserves the safest start in life.

Spotlight on the Safe or Not Safe Photo Module

At Cribs for Kids, we know that visuals are powerful tools for learning. That’s why we created the Safe or Not Safe Photo Module; an interactive quiz designed to quickly assess and refresh your knowledge of infant safe sleep practices.

The module presents a series of real-life images of infant sleep environments, asking participants to identify what is safe and what is not. By practicing this skill, you’ll gain a sharper eye for spotting potential hazards and a deeper understanding of how to reduce the risk of sleep-related deaths.

This resource is flexible and easy to use. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or caregiver completing it for personal learning, or a professional leading a group discussion with staff or families, the Safe or Not Safe Photo Module offers a simple, engaging way to reinforce essential safe sleep practices.

Take the quiz today and share it with your family, friends, and colleagues. Every person who sharpens their safe sleep knowledge brings us one step closer to making sure every baby sleeps safely.
