A Future Full of Possibility Starts With YOU

Because of your support, more teens are growing up with something powerful by their side: guidance, knowledge, and people they can trust. And that changes lives.

This Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, there is meaningful progress to celebrate. Across Michigan, teen pregnancy and birth rates have reached historic lows. Behind those numbers are real stories, young people staying focused on their goals, feeling more confident in their choices, and imagining bigger possibilities for their futures.

You are helping make that possible.

Your generosity helps create spaces where teens can ask hard questions without fear, find trusted mentors who listen, and access resources that help them make informed decisions about their lives and health. You are helping young people feel seen, supported, and equipped for what comes next.

And the impact reaches far beyond today. The confidence a teenager gains now can shape the opportunities they pursue, the dreams they protect, and the future they build for themselves.

You are opening doors many young people never thought possible.

Thank you for helping create brighter futures and healthier communities. We’re excited for what’s ahead, and we hope you’ll continue this journey alongside the young people whose lives you are helping shape.

Your donation today can help ensure even more young people have access to trusted mentors, life-changing resources, and the support they need to build healthy, hopeful futures. Together, we can continue creating opportunities that help teens thrive.

Home Depot - Depot Days

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Home Depot for their incredible partnership and support during Depot Days. Through both generous volunteer efforts and a transformative $25,000 contribution from The Home Depot Foundation, Home Depot helped us begin meaningful upgrades to our Prevention Program space.

From lending your time and talents to helping improve our spaces, your team showed what true community partnership looks like. Because of your support, we can continue creating safe, welcoming, and empowering environments for the women and girls in our care.

We are deeply thankful for Team Depot’s commitment to strengthening our community and standing alongside us in our mission to support and empower young women and girls.

Partnerships like this truly make a difference.

AFG Announced As Detroit Lions Inspire Change Grantee

Laura and Tonya receiving an award from the Detroit Lions Inspire Change

Tonya C. Adair, President and CEO, and Laura S. LeBlanc, VP of Philanthropy, receiving an award to honor the selection as a Detroit Lions Inspire Change recipient.

We are honored and deeply grateful to share that Alternatives For Girls has been selected as a 2026 grantee of the Detroit Lions Inspire Change initiative.

This meaningful investment recognizes organizations working to create positive change across Metro Detroit, and we are proud to stand alongside other community partners dedicated to strengthening our city. Support from initiatives like Inspire Change helps ensure that girls and young women experiencing homelessness, violence, and exploitation can continue to access the safety, resources, and opportunities they deserve.

We are especially thankful to the Detroit Lions players and organization for using their platform to uplift and invest in local nonprofits making a difference every day. Their commitment to supporting youth and families in our community will help create brighter futures for the young women and children we serve.

30 Expecting Moms Showered With Support, Resources, and Essentials

Because of your support, 30 expecting mothers recently walked into a room filled with something every parent deserves: joy, encouragement, and the feeling that they do not have to do this alone.

You helped create a day of celebration and support where moms were welcomed with open arms and left with essential resources for the journey ahead. Car seats and strollers. Diapers, wipes, bottles, bibs, and other baby essentials. Practical items that ease stress and bring peace of mind for families preparing to welcome a child.

But you made something else possible too.

You helped create moments of connection. Mothers shared a meal together, accessed health resources, received self-care services, and spent time in a space designed to remind them that they matter too.

For many families, support like this means more than receiving supplies. It means feeling seen. It means feeling encouraged. It means beginning a new chapter with confidence and hope.

Thank you for helping mothers and babies start stronger, healthier, and surrounded by care. We’re excited for the journeys ahead and hope you’ll continue walking alongside these families as their stories unfold.

Celebrating Our Teachers

During Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrated the caring teachers who are part of something much bigger than a classroom. Because of your support, young mothers can move forward knowing their children are in a safe, nurturing place where they are cared for and encouraged every day.

You are helping create a place where little ones can learn, play, enjoy healthy meals, and receive the support they need during some of the most important years of their lives. Just as importantly, you are helping create stability and joy for children as they grow.

And while their children are safe and thriving, something powerful happens for young moms.

You are giving them the chance to sit in a classroom, attend an interview, work on a resume, continue their education, or take another important step toward the future they want for themselves and their families.

The impact of your generosity reaches far beyond childcare. You are helping create opportunities, build confidence, and open doors that may have once felt out of reach.

Thank you for helping make brighter futures possible for two generations at once. We hope you’ll continue this journey and see the lives your support continues to transform.

Thank you for helping create moments of peace, possibility, and hope for young mothers and their children.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

How We Talk About Mental Health Matters

Last, but certainly not least, May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we're changing the way we talk about mental illness to help eliminate stigma. Words matter. By addressing the stigma of mental illness, focusing on mental health, knowing the signs of mental illness and substance use disorder, and preventing suicide, we can all make a difference and save lives.
