This class is an introduction to effectively representing children in foster care. Attendees will learn how to establish an attorney/client relationship with clients of all ages. The class also provides an overview of the child welfare system and the life of an abuse/neglect case. Lastly, the class touches upon common issues, including sibling connections, mental health, and delayed permanency.

Nevada-licensed or emeritus-certified attorneys can earn 2 general CLE credits by attending. To receive credit, attorneys must have at least one active pro bono case or take one new case. You can select a case or sign up for Ask-A-Lawyer sessions from www.lacsnprobono.org.

Featured CLE: Creating Human Impact Through Storytelling

Presenting evidence accurately and thoroughly is your profession. But arranging that evidence as an engaging story is an art. Too many good lawyers lose because opposing counsel is a better “advocacy artist” than they are. Making a truly human connection with jurors, judges, colleagues, and clients will make a lasting impression, and that can only be done with effective storytelling. Opposing counsel may be relying on AI more frequently, but even though artificial intelligence tools may offer ways to frame an argument, AI can never fully replace a well-told story.

David Mann, a story specialist who helps attorneys and business leaders clarify their message and make a lasting impact, will lead this CLE. The webinar will provide fresh ideas, techniques, and principles for turning case facts into an engaging narrative that resonates intuitively as well as logically.

In addition, you’ll gain tips on essential presentation skills such as vocal cadence and movement that add a visceral human quality to your case story. With the core rhetorical skills of grabbing and holding attention now at a premium in our modern culture, the classic storytelling skills revealed in this webinar are more important than ever.
